Is this a real place? If so, where? Who painted this? Does it have a name?

I am sorry I don't know. It looks like an illustration is it a print or original?.A very competent and interesting painting. I should send this scan to Christies or one of the big auction houses and they will know at once.
If you love it this is really all that matters and I think it worth having it reframed with a really good wide mount . This is not expensive as the actual frame can be simple. A good framer will make the bottom of the mount wider : if it is the same width all round the eye judges the painting to be slipping down.

This kind of painting is known as "Landscape" or "View".
I´m not sure that was a real place.
It looks like some place in Middle West, maybe Greece (where many constructions are painted in white), Turkey, North of Africa too.
Maybe a church, a pilgrim´s place, but a mosque with its minaret too.
I don´t recognize the artist.
(Sorry !!!...for my bad english, too!!!)
