I think it will be OK... it will make its way through... kids swallow things all the time.

ok, i will admit that i don't have a whole lot of experience here, but i know a little. are u positive she did swallow it? a child in my toddler class (about 22 months old or so) was suspected to have swallowed a penny. dad said pediatrician said to check diaper bm's to look for it (that was lots of fun lol). anyway, if nothing after a few days, then they were gonna do x-ray and go from there. but they weren't even sure if he actually swallowed it or not, and dr. said if he did it WOULD most likely come out in his bm. a lego man head is much smaller than a penny. based on the fact that it is soooo tiny i would bet that it will pass in her bowel movement. it probably has already, it was just so tiny that u didn't see it there. those things are T-I-N-Y !! if u r still concerned at this point, my advice would be to contact her pediatrician, and see what he recommends. i knew another child who swallowed her earring. a real emerald birthstone one-- took it out of her ear and swallowed it b4 mom knew it was out so again they weren't positive if she actually swallowed it or not or if it just got lost. she (mom) was always a bit of a hypocondriac, so she went to er. did x-ray and mom claimed u could actually see the earring on the x-ray. dr said again to check bm's in diaper to see if she passed it, but that she would. if u are positive she did swallow it, then keep checking her stool. i know it's not as easy since she is potty trained and there are no diapers to look in, but chances are if she did swallow it, it's SO tiny that she will pass it. it's honestly probably way too tiny to get stuck anywhere. those things are so small!

Before giving her any kind of laxative, I would have her evaluated at the ER. Even if the Lego man head was small, it could be blocking her intestine. This is serious. I don't mean to scare you but she really should be seen. Anytime a child swallows something that they aren't supposed to, they should be checked out at an ER. If her intestines are blocked badly enough, they could burst. I truly hope that everything is OK with her!! Good luck and God bless you and her!

I would seriously get her to the ER. She is too young to go untreated. Dont worry kids swallow things daily that they shouldnt. My daughter swallowed a penny once. I still have her x-rays. We didnt know she had swallowed a penny but she would eat the smallest a thing like a peice of cheese and was acting like she was choking so I knew it was time for her to be at the ER. Good thing we did b/c it was stuck in there and she went into surgey that night to have it sucked out or whatever they did to her. Let me tell you I was very scared..If it makes you feel any better and I could call the doctor and tell him everything. :)

I'm just guessing what to - I am not a doctor - Here's what I would do: I would not give a laxative - they just irritate bowels. I woould take her to a doctor tomorrow if she still hasn't had a bowel movement just to make sure there isn't a bowel obstruction. In the mean time, I would see if she would eat something high in fiber - normal serving of citrucel or cereal like granola, cheerios, wheaties, etc.

Those lego men heads are small..She may have already passed it and you just didn't see...although they are bright yellow! LOL They are tiny and she'll pass it...IF it was something larger THEN I'd worry..but my son * he's ALMOST 3~ has almost swallowed them a million times...and if he was to...I know it will pass...Don't give her a lax...maybe some baby prunes or something like that..but I'd be more concerned on the effects those will have on her!

if she hasn't made a bowell movement 4 2 days, i would be concerned. The lego head could've blocked her intestive track. Take her in for a check-up b-4 you give her any laxatives.

Something that small should pass easily through her digestive tract. You can call your doctor to see what they say, but most likely their answer will be to wait it out. It doesn't have sharp edges or is highly toxic, so she should be just fine. It may have even come out in the diarrhea already, unless you checked carefully. Just make sure to watch for it and make sure that it has ejected.

i don't think that it should have caused diarhea. has she been feeling okay otherwise? eating and drinking normally?
i wouldn't give her a laxative without taking her to the doctor or ER first. they will let you know what to do.
if she hasn't went by tomorrow and complaining on feeling bad i would go to the doctor anyway, just to put my mind at ease.
aren't 3 year olds fun? :) SD
