there are a lot of pros and cons actually. But I thought I would put it a different way. If you don't and your dog either reproduces or helps along with it they will become much more agreesive-but only after the deed or having the pups. If it's a female, you'll never be allowed to leave children around her safely. They become much more defensive and more likely to attack in self defense. Males, become more territorial after mating and that makes them more aggressive to strangers in their home. This is just some of the things can could happen if your dog mates. If it never does, then it doesn't matter-except that when your dogs in heat you've got to get those diapers!

Lots of people came up with good pros.
Let me list some cons:
1. Hey, this is surgery. Just like in any surgery, there is a chance of dying from the operation or from post-operative complications. It's not high, but there is a chance.
2. The cost of the operation, especially if one or both testicles are undescended.
3. He'll never be a daddy.
4. He may become more lethargic, and/or gain weight.
To my way of thinking, neutering is the way to go, but I want to be realistic.

in case you motive to coach Gretel in AKC conformation shows, she must be intact. So neuter the male now to stay away from any unintentional inbreedings. No, they do no longer lose their personalities. Tones them down in straightforward terms a wee bit, yet they are going to nonetheless have "incredible" personalities. what's going to replace them extra suitable than something is turning out to be mature, beginning approximately 10 months by 2 years or so. "I even have heard that spayed canines can nonetheless get maximum cancers interior the indoors maximum area" What inner maximum area? they could't get maximum cancers of the uterus because of the fact this is not there anymore. A canines spayed previous to her first season has very just about no possibility of coming up mammary tumors, while a canines it quite is undamaged has a 25% possibility of coming up mammary tumors. She additionally has a 25% possibility of coming up pyometra, a perilous uterine an infection. So in fact she has a 50% possibility of having something particularly extreme via the time she is 10 years previous--and it ought to happen every time. I had a showdog advance pyo at age 2.... "yet neither of my canines are territorial or aggressive" Your canines are doggies. you're able to no longer know in the event that they are going to be territorial and/or aggressive till approximately 2 years of age....

A neutered male will not be as good a pet as if you hadn't had him "fixed". I'm sorry I have to say that, but I know it to be true- a neutered animal won't be as happy, lively, and normal acting and will have a tendency to become obese, uninteresting and inactive.
If its a smaller dog- i definately WOULD NOT have him neutered.
on big dogs, sometimes we have no choice- you have to get him fixed or he'll be jumping the fence, roaming around and humping around- its not the end of the world to have him fixed- he'll still be a good companion and stuff. but he will be changed, for sure.

There are no cons. The pros are that he won't mark his territory particularly in your house. He will not get testicular cancer or other diseases. He will not wander in search of females in heat. It will reduce his aggressiveness. He will not contribute to the overpopulation of unwanted pups.
