No and no.
You would have to admit that it is not a normal sort of behaviour.
Cutting is an abnormal response to situations which seem overwhelming or depressing to the cutter. When you talk with people who cut they cite a number of reasons ranging from - feeling numb and wanting to feel something, to wanting to see the blood to ... well you name it.
It is flamboyantly dramatic and good way to shock parents or other caregivers. You will often (but not always) find self harming behaviours evident in people who are in dependent situations. Sometimes this is a passive aggressive manipulation to make the caregiver(s) feel bad.
As a health choice it is bad because it opens up the risk of infection and major haemorrhage, cutting underlying structures, the formation of scar tissue over repeatedly lacerated areas.
It is often associated with borderline personality disorder.

Oh, Mandy,
Please believe in yourself and that your life can be better.
Your mother is giving you fits and you may or may not realize that now, but she's not helpful at all.
I don't know who raped you, but having a bad memory of one's childhood is an indicator that bad things occurred.
You cut because blood oozing out of your wound is a physical indicator of your internal pain and takes your mind off of your internal pain for a while. So, you're not crazy, you have a coping mechanism. Problem is, your coping mechanism is not a healthy one. It indicates a lot of self-hatred (which I do believe was taught you and can be unlearned with lots of help through a good therapist).
Please tell your parents that you need good help. And don't yell at them or fight with them anymore, not because they don't deserve it, but because it won't get you anywhere.
I'm sure they can afford to send you to a nice facility for a while or to very nice outpatient care or twice or thrice weekly to therapy.
I know I'm harping, but I just want the best for you.

No it does not make you crazy but it is not healthy. I used to cut for 4 years until I got help, it was really hard. Like an addiction. But i'm clean now, for 2 years and really proud.
I would really advise getting help and trying to really stick to it. Try getting into a hospital if you can if your willing to do that, that's what got me to stop. I was there for a week and it gave me a good insight on things.

Cutting is a coping mechanism to help releive feelings. Some people cut to zone out, to feel and know they are alive, some try to sidetrack themselves with it so they dont have to deal with the real issues... ether way it doesnt make you crazy... its not a healthy way by any means, but it is tricky and can be hard to stop. just like bulimia, its addictive, and becomes your first line of defence when dealing with hard feelings. Goodluck.

No cutting does not make you crazy. I can relate. My heart goes out to you. You may want to see a doctor to get help. That is what I did 5 years ago. I finally got tired of hurting myself. It was like hurting myself wasn't solving the problem anymore. I started thinking of other ways to really hurt myself which was life threatening. Thank God for my friend. This is when I went to the doctor got help. I haven't hurt myself for 5 years. If I were you please get help. There is help for you. I am a survivor

Cutting means you have an unhealthy mechanism for coping with emotions in your life. You need help figuring out what things trigger the cuttings and once that's tackled you can eventually heal mentally and physically.
Stopping simply means you've either gotten help or learned another way of dealing with things in your life.
