To see a animals suffer hurts way more because most likely it is suffering because of humans

Who says animals don't have a soul or feelings? Why are SOME people so dead set that humans are superior to every thing around them?

The most educated people seem to know that we are not the only souls out there......If we even have a soul...........I HOPE WE DO

There are a million organizations geared toward helping children. And only two people (that I know of) to help little animals - you and me. If my vet doesn't see me for a week, he calls to see if I am okay - does that tell you anything about me? Keep up the kind work, sweetie...

If you think helping a hungry dog is more justified than helping instead a starving child, then every single legal system in the world must be totally erroneous, because they are all basically set up to protect human beings. All the police force and military are wasting most of their time protecting people, instead they should spend their time protecting animals. I am not saying we should totally neglect animals, but I don't understand why a dog could ever come before a child. And why dogs? Would you help a hungry frog instead of helping a starving child? If you have a child of your own, would the hungry dog comes before your own child?

Hi Dolph,
I believe we should show compassion for any suffering being, whether human or animal. We should not ignore any pain, if we are able to offer help. Someday we may be suffering and need a helping hand as well. To reach out to others is human nature, and benefits the giver as well.

There is no doubt that animals have feelings. They are very expressive in showing joy, excitement, anger, pain, aggression, love... there is no question! Anyone who denies this has had no interaction with animals.

We have no right to place animals above humans or humans above animals. Simply do what you can to make life a little better for any sufferer you see.

It comes down to spiritual beliefs I beleive. Animal abuse is wrong and I do beleive in heaven people can see their pets but I think some might argue that if it were a choice between the two...if one had to suffer then the human should be spared for we are created in God's image and not the animal. That being said though we should not treat this situation like a false dilemma. Just because one person may care for abandoned animals does not mean they are not allowed to help a starving child.

Nothing at all is wrong with that. People are the ones responsible for both starving children and animals for one reason.

They're intelligent enough TO KNOW BETTER. Whether it comes to abandoning animals, or getting pregnant too often/not taking care of your body to prevent conception...

We took dogs out of the wild and trained them. We changed them to fit our whims. If they anger us, or bore us, sometimes they get tossed out without a second thought. A child provokes a dog and gets bitten, the dog gets put down.

So do the dogs a favor, and be kind. Plenty more people are willing to help a child than an animal. But really, they're both in the same boat until responsible adults learn to better take care of the living world around them.

Life is precious, learn to care. You only get it once.

what does having a soul have to do with anything?

if i had to choose i would help the starving child (who is suffering through no fault of it's own). i find it hard to believe that you are hurt more by the thought of an animal suffering than that of a child.

it is the job of every adult to care for those children that have no one else to care for them.

edit
it's not that i don't like animals. if i have a chance to help an animal that is hungry or injured i will. children are at the mercy of adults, and if they are suffering it's because of humans.

I love my doggies and they are like my human babies. But, SUPPOSEDLY, they can't feel sorry for themselves. They can't think to themselves "gee, I'm hungry, I wish that someone would feed me! Why won't they feed me! I am worthless and no one loves me!" They just feel hunger and seek food. A person, on the other hand CAN feel sorry for his or her self. So I guess a person would get more satisfaction out of feeding a human because they can also be greatful, and it can improve the hungry person's sense of self-worth, which in turn makes the person giving the food feel better about themselves. All in all, it is just because people are selfish and want acknowledgement for the help that they give.
I don't agree with this, but that's just how it is. We have a different kind of brain than a dog does...we have a "cognitive thought" process...they don't. They act on instinct and experience. Ask any veterinarian.

I used to volunteer at an Animal Shelter and love helping animals; but that doesn't change the value of a human life, which is always more than an animal. I don't mean this to be egotistical but there would be a lot more mourning, financial loss and economic loss of a person, moreso than a dog. We should help all creatures but there is obviously a priority on humans, who can think and reason; who love, who laugh, who learn, who are striving to reach their dreams, who have family members that love them deeply. You'd have to be a fool to compare a human to a dog, who'd probably die in 5 years anyway. Peace,

If you "help" starving animals, they respond by multiplying and making more starving animals! Nature limits the population of any species through predation, disease and starvation. It's cruel, but there's nothing anyone can do about it.

Humans, on the other hand, sometimes have the sense to not reproduce when they know it will only cause suffering. So help the human, and you will probably prevent suffering rather than create more.

If a child is suffering they're not exactly suffering out of their own will either. Just as you hold humans responsible for the suffering of animals and thus pity them, you could apply that to children who are at the mercy of adults

So those of you who are more sympathetic to animals than starving children... Would you convince someone to save a dog over your life?

It's great that you want to help animals but why can't you so both?
Children suffer from humans as well. They both can suffer neglect and abuse through no fault of their own. The question is why you don't have room in your heart to help both?
