If it is windy and his house is not divided with a wind wall to block the wind then he will get too cold. If the temperature seems to cold that you wouldn't leave a child out in then I would suggest you keep him in the house on very cold nights and let him out during the day. He still will not have a winter coat so he will need lots of bedding straw and newspaper work great. Be sure he has water and that no ice has formed on it.

You can't leave a puppy outside!!! At 8 weeks old??? He needs to be in a warm house, I don't care what kind of dog house he's got!! A puppy that young should not be exposed to temperatures below 70-75 F! You're going to make him sick or give him hypothermia! Bring that poor dog inside, if you can't keep him in the house then find him a better home.

Anything consistently cooler than his body temp is probably too cold for him right now. He is still a baby, and baby mammals are not yet able to regulate their body temps. especially while he is sleeping which is probably more than 50% of the time right now. If he had a mommy or sibling to cuddle up with, I'd say maybe just having a lightbulb lit in the insulated doghouse would work, but if he is there all by his lonesome, nope, not in the dead of winter unless you live in Florida or any other warm temperate zone.
At the very least, you should let him sleep in a box in the kitchen, it needs to have some clean dry bedding in it, and a way for him to get out so he can get to the papers you need to spread out for him to use for potty during the night. You can use a hotpad put on low in the box if you let your house get cool at night like I do.

Personally, I keep my doggies inside with me. I just potty train them and they do great. But if you want just an outside dog, you still need to keep this pup indoors until the temps are consistently above 50 degrees or so and he is six months or older.

Check with your vet on this one, since I tend to overprotect my doggie friends.

I don't think an 8 week old puppy has enough fur to keep himself warm. Better safe than sorry. Bring the puppy end. It's probably sad being outside and cold!

It's much too young to be outside, even if you live in Hawaii.
Unless you want an antisocial watch dog, you need to bring him inside, give lots of love and attention, good food, fresh water, treats, all necessary shots & check ups and proper training.
Why get a puppy just to leave it out in the cold alone?

He's way too young to keep outside alone all the time, insulated dog house or not. Keep him in a confined area in the house and give him plenty of positive human attention.

What is an 8 week old puppy doing outside? He is way, way, too young. You need to bring him inside and keep him inside.

You didn't tell us how cold it is outside! Call me a wimp, but I prefer my dogs in my home where they are nice and cozy. I don't even want to think about a poor little 8 week old puppy outside shivering. You should bring him inside and wait until summer to let him sleep outdoors.
