I took my dog to petsmart to get her legs shaved so it doesn't go so dirty when I take her out for a walk. But the lady cut off her entire body's hair too and so now her once long hair is now short. It's not the lady's fault. I was in a hurry andshe told me if she only cut the legs, my dog would look ugly, like a mushroom she said, so I told her to do anything she can to make it look good but less maintences so I don't have to keep washing her when I take her back from her walks cause my dog goes for 2 walks a day and gets quite dirty. Nowmy dog seems like she's cold, so I bought her a couple shirts. She's wearing two right now. But I'm still scared she's cold. Are there any symptoms? Any suggestions to help my poor puppy? I've also bougt her shoes so when she goes out, her feet won't get cold. But i'm still worried. I live in SO Cal, it doesn't get THAT cold, but it has been 30 degrees lately!

If your dog is cold:

1.) She will visibly start shaking. If that happens then that means she is reallly cold. You need to keep her warmer by putting more shirts on her get a thicker sweater/coat for her.
2.) If her paw pads are cool she is going to be on the cold side too. Dogs lose a lot of heat through their paws so try to put booties like you mentioned above on her when on walks so her paws stay warm. This will help keep her body temperature up.
3.) If her body feels cool to the touch she might be chilled. Try putting on a shirt like you mentioned and that should help.

I think what you are doing is fine just be aware of your dog and make sure you notice any obvious signs that she is cold. Make sure your house temperature isnt too cold maybe make it a few degrees warmer than it used to be. At night make sure her bed/crate has plently of blankets or maybe a heating lamp to ensure her warmth. Also when on walks try putting a thicker sweater or coat made for dogs on her because it is very cold out in the winter months and a few shirts may not cut it in this cold weather. Also they make body pj's for dogs that we got our puppy. When it is cold out we put her pj's on or her coat to keep her warm. Also we got a scarf for our dog and that keeps her neck warm. I would just suggest something a bit warmer than a shirt for walks like maybe a sweater type thing. Other than that the shirt and booties are fine on warmer days or around the house. I would deffinitely keep at least a shirt on her at all times even in the house untill her fur grows out more. good luck and happy holidays!

You shaved a dog so her legs wouldn't get dirty when you took her for a walk?

That dogs not cold, she's embarrassed.

Oh, so, what kind of dog is it?

Doesn't matter where she lives, you shaved a dog instead of just wiping it's paws off. And now you're worried about it being cold.

well it is okay that the hair is short and you are keeping her walking and not just standing out there in the cold so her body is producing heat while she walks. the shirt is also giving her the extra warmth. As long you don't leave her out for too long she is fine.

Your doing the right thing. When it gets cool out just put a shirt or sweater on her. That is what I do with my pup.

Dogs shiver when they are cold. As long as she's not and you're not leaving her outdoors at night with her new hair cut, she will be fine.
