My doctor keeps telling me it is all in my head, and even prescribed me Zoloft, which is STILL not helping at all.... She says I am depressed and it causing me to feel this pain, but I don't even have anything to be depressed about.... I have been on the Zoloft now since september to no avail.... PLEASE HELP!!!!

to all who have said to get a new doc, the place i go to has like 8 different docs, and you don't know who you will get....
i actually had an "episode" last january that i couldn't walk for a week with extremely severe pain in my left hip bone...
my brother went to the doc last month with pain in his shoulder, and they immediately sent him for x-rays and to an orthopedist.. he also got pain pills for his pain... they treat me soo differently there, too

I have actually been going through the same thing myself since early December. I have been in and out of the hospital several times and had a number of tests. Did they do an MRI, MRA, and CAT SCAN? My MS test came back negative, too.
Make an appointment with a neurologist. This is the only kind of doctor that can really find out what is wrong. A couple days ago I finally found a neurologist that pinpointed my problem. I have a nerve that is being pinched in several places down my back. It will have to be fixed with either spinal decompression, physical therapy or surgery. They will decide the best plan of action next month. Until then, I am on Neproxin (an antiinflamatory) and Vicodin for pain. It is helping a lot, although it makes me really tired.
It sounds to me like you really just need a new doctor. Over the last month I have seen 5 different docs, all who had different ideas but could not come up with a good answer. I just kept looking until I found one that could tell me what I wanted to hear. Find a new doc who believes that you are in pain right away. Good luck.

I would go see a rheumatologist. Sounds like a inflammation disorder, could be fibromyalgia or something like lupus or Rhuematoid Arthritis. It is worth getting checked out. If it's after that they can't find a cause see a pain management specialist. No one should have to live with chronic pain. I wish you all the best.
I don't believe it sounds like bone cancer. But definatley something more than depression. You are young and have your whole life ahead of you, find someone who will listen and take the time to find a way to help you.
Ask your parents to take you to a new group. Ask the doctor to check your sed. rate, ask for an ANA test and a rhuematiod arthritis teiter. The sed rate should show if there is an inflammation problem. Keep a diary of your pain, location and severity. Rate your pain 0 is no pain 10 being the worst pain you can imagine. Bring it to the appointment. Make sure and note time of day, activities and what makes it worse.

I would rule out cancer but not being a doctor can't diagonose.
Your symptoms do not sound like anything cancer would show.
I understand your doctor doing the scan for MS because they are symptoms of MS. They may not show the first time and you may have to be retested. Fibremyalgia has the same symptoms of MS and some of what you described it is very hard to confirm and is mis diagnosed for a lot of people for years.
Talk to your doctor again about it and tell him you don't feel like the Zoloft is working and you would like further testing.
Your brothers pain was in one joint so it makes sense for xrays and an ortho. yours are not in one local area that is why you need him to follow up with something different he is on the right track thinking MS. and you could show negative tests a few times I still say check for fibermialgia as well.
One blood test would let you know if it is Rhumetoid Arth. and yes your symptoms sound similar. My daughter has this and sees a specialist every 3 months for Jr. RA. but a doctor can usually spot this with swelling due to fluid build up in the joints. but ask him about that as well.

Ask your parents to make an appointment with a Rheumatologist. This is a physician who specializes in joint diseases or disorders. I had Rheumatic Fever when I was 12 years old - boy that kind of describes what I was experiencing. It's quite rare nowdays, but it almost always follows a very severe case of strep throat. Anyway, in my day, they called it "growing" pains. Whatever they want to call it, it not all in your head. Get a specialist to help you! Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

I am sorry, if the zoloft isn't working why would your doc, still give it to you,,,,,it got rid of all my pain, well not all, I still pain from grinding my teeth,,anyways, could it be nerve damage of some sort? If your knees pop out of place it's a really good way to get pressure on your nerves, that could cause pain all throughout your body, did your doc not listen to you when you said your knees pop out of place,,,,,,,,,god get a new doctor.

You need to find a new doctor who will help you figure out what is going on. Anytime the doc tries to tell you it is all in your head when you are having lots of problems you need to run not walk to a new doctor for a proper diagnosis.

I am not a doctor but my advice to you would be to get a second opinion.
are you athletic? and do you pop your joints out yourself at times just to see if they are still popping? if so you might want to refrain from doing so.
oh yeah, have you seen a sports doc? sports doc is not the proper name but you can look in phone book under that title and you'll still see listings.
usually shrink dr. are the one whom prescribes anti depr.
i think?
good luck & keep lookin.

Ask your parents to take you to another doctor.
There are many things that this could be.
Don't quit taking the Zoloft without medical supervision, though. Bad idea. Good luck.

If your experiencing these horrible symptoms and your doctor is not taking you seriously, then it's high time to find another doctor.
Doctors can very well become arrogant and this causes negligence. Please make an appointment to see another doctor, or even a specialist to find yourself some answers. Best of luck.
