Of course there's no "news"
U.S. media doesn't report BAD news about Toyota.
Only every little piece of dirt they can find about American manufacturers!
The same goes for many Yamsters here, who keep saying : "don't buy American, Japanese cars are the only ones built with quality"
Your 2007 Toyota Camry, that has been out only about 6 months, is EXTREMELY PROBLEMATIC !!!
This is NOT just an opinion, IT IS A FACT !
I have researched this, & let me give you some data:
There have already been 89 formal complaints registered with the NHTSA that are under investigation!
32 of those are for the automatic transmission!
And there has 'only' been 1 injury resulting in DEATH.
You don't have to take my word for it, see for yourself.
I could list all the complaint I.D. #'s for you if I felt like typeing all those report numbers, but I'll just type the deadly one.
go to the link below & look up ODI complaint #10173766
You can look at all 89 complaints there, & I would file one myself if I were you !
I may add that TOYOTA HAS NOT RECALLED these vehicles YET ! The only thing that they have recalled is 133 vehicles for a possible airbag problem !
While you are wandering around the NHTSA's website, please take a look at the complaints obout the Ford Fusion. Absolutely ZERO complaints for 2007 & only 12 for 2006, it's 1st year out!!
& if you read the actual complaint reports, you'll see that a couple of them are 'duplicates' & one of them is so rediculous (#10175078) , it states that while parallel parking, the wheels rub up against the curb, damaging the rims.(obviously a DRIVER error)
Another "Complaint" about the Fusion was by an owner complaining that the car got 2 flat tires at the same time, on the same side (passenger) of the vehicle ! Both of those rims were damaged ( bent). Probably in the same manner ( by driving over a curb or something) Again DRIVER error!
Sorry for the long winded answer, but I get a little steamed about all the Ford bashing by the media, & those here. And all the Toyota lovers singing the praises of a not so worthy product.
I wonder how many deaths need to occur before a mandatory recall goes into effect?
You shoulda bought a Ford !

Jane, as a mechanic, I would say they are an excellent LONG TERM choice for a car. The only car I would recommend even more would be a Subaru forrestor or Subaru Outback. All wheel drive, etc. and they are reliable as all. The problem with the Camry is that it has had a serious redesign and it's best to avoid any model of car that's had a big design change. You wait at least a year and get the next year model .The first year out of an improved-redesigned model is invariably mired in technical problems. The Honda's are also great cars in the same range. Good luck; Nate R. Master Mechanic

Take it to dealer ASAP. Sounds like a computer problem. I have an 07 Camry and am aware the computer works very much in conjunction with various components for acceleration. Good luck... Warranty is three years or 36,000 so you should still be covered.

There have been some transmission problems with the v6 models of the 2007 Camry. You don't state what model you have though.
At least Toyota is going anywhere, Ford will be out of business soon anyhow.

This is a software problem, and is easily fixed with programming supplied by your dealer. The Camry is LEGENDARY for reliability and longevity. As for the person doing the hating on Toyota,,,, guess what FORD wants to partner with Toyota,,,Hmmmm guess why,,,maybe it's to learn something about quality.
