I have what my dentist calls soft enamel. I brush my teeth at least twice a day, my Mom and Dad also have bad teeth. I have to get fillings every month for like the last several years! It sucks the Dentists office is my second home and all he tells me to do is use flouride toothpaste. Obviously it doesnt help! Does anyone know what might help me?

Have a saliva test done to see if you are producing acidic saliva. It can test resting saliva which if acidic is due to diet and stimulated saliva. If you have acidic saliva you can use a product called tooth mousse which helps reduce the acid and floods the teeth with calcium and phosphates. Its sort of like a facial for your teeth. It is a great product of which I have done my own research on with patients that have been high in acid. Reducing acidic foods such as tomatoes, oranges, lemons is also good. Do not drink things like cola and poweraid as these are really bad for the enamel. A good habit is to rinse out with water after eating and drinking anything. Do not brush your teeth for an hour after eating or drinking as the enamel can be soft and toothbrush abrasion can occur.

Holy moly,,, yes ask your dentist for a rx toothpaste such as prevident & possably a tough antibacterial mouthwash like periogaurd. I would also strongly reccomend some flouride treatments by your dentist! Actually if your dentist has let you get this bad I would change Dentists but I dont know the whole situation..... Good luck to you.

the first thing i would do is, if you are drinking carbonated beverages, especially colas, is to stop immediately. these contain phosphoric acid which is used in metal etching operations, and is great at dissolving teeth. also try to stay away from citrus due to the acid content. there's nothing you can do to actually "fix" the problem, except a full set of crowns which cost megabucks
