What do you mean if Jesus was a Jew? He was a descendant of King David through His mother Mary's side of the family. He was born in Bethlehem, in Israel on account that they were doing a census to find out who and how many Jews lived there. Christians are called Christians because they are "followers of Christ. Who is Christ? Jesus. He was a Jew.There are also Messianic Jews and Jews For Jesus, who all know that Jesus was a Jew. He taught from the old Testament because there was no New Testament. He taught in the Jewish temples and synagogues where non Jews were not allowed.

Jesus was Jew and he came about as the savior that Jewish people are still waiting for. He fulfilled many prophecies that were mentioned in the coming of the messiah. ( he could have done it on purpose, having been taught about the prophesy or he could have been the real deal. didn't know!) The many Jewish people did not accept him as the messiah, but SOME did and thus came Christianity that started as a cult and as a part that BROKE away from Judaism. Hence Christianity is a part of Judaism, but has since evolved to include its own traditions and the NEW testament.

I have read many answers that insist that The bible says so, however, not one has cited the chapter/ verse. The closest any have come is to refer to the signage placed above Jesus on the cross.
Reality check! That sign was placed there by the Roman governor (remember the Romans occupied the land and hated the inhabitants). You will also recall that scripture says the religious leaders were very upset about that.
First of all, the word "Jew" was a derogatory term, much as one in America might use the Big "N" word!
Second, Jesus himself did not care for the "Jews" for what they had done to His father's people. Read your Bible, a real one, not a modern perversion, if you really are interested in the truth.
Jesus was an Israelite by nationality and a Hebrew by faith! Why do you think he was always trying to re-train those "Lost sheep of Israel?
Study to show thyself approved!
To answer the question, Christians are not Jewish as their way was imperfect, Jesus showed them all the perfect way. There is no better way than perfect. He paid the way for us to enter into eternal life. There is no way to improve upon that, not through Mohammad or Joseph Smith, no way at all!

I understand why you would be comfused. Let me explain. Jesus was jewish. He was a prophet. Now, in the jewish religion, it was said that a savior, a messiah, would come to the earth to teach people the truth and to manifest the christ. Some of the jewish people believed jesus to be the christ. Others belived he was but another prophet. Those who followed jesus's teachings and believed him to be the christ called themselvs Christians, and broke away from the jewish religion. The jewish people are still waiting for the coming of the Christ. The christians believe Jesus was Christ. That is the most Basic difference between the two religions.

Jesus, was not originally a Spanish name. Jesus was the son of a carpenters wife, original from Nazareth. That makes Him a Jew. That is Jewish, the nationality. Also Hebrew by religion.

Christian are from all nations in the world that make them that nationality. Jews who become Christians are called messianic Jews.

The House of David, Jesus is a Jewish Human Person. Most Jews did not believe Jesus was the Son of God, The Christ Savour. This led to the Gentiles( non Jew) being able to be grafted into the family tree of God. With the belief of the pascal mystery the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. They are called to lead the life of Christ (Christians).

JESUS was a jew. If HE had not been murdered and arisen then we would probably still be living under the Jewish Laws (Old Testament). HE gave HIS life so that we would all have an opportunity to be among the saved in Heaven with HE abd THE FATHER. This is an interesting study that you might want to look into. Have a great read!!

Not only was Jesus a Jew, He was also a Rabbi. Read your Bible. Christians are not Jewish because they are followers of Jesus Christ. In the ancient Christian church there was a debate over whether Gentiles should first become Jews before they were allowed to join the Christ's church.
