Hi...I'm Mark, and I'm a 16 year old white male as well. I've never had a girlfriend. I think you sound completely normal. I think it's a good thing that you want to think things through without rushing into them. Lack of patience contributes to a failing relationship, but you seem to take your time with things. Lack of communication can also be a downfall, you have a social life so I believe you shouldn't worry about that. My point is that you are ready. Possibly more than I am. Consider getting to know a girl you've had the feelings for, if it doesn't work out...try someone else. But with your patience and maturity once you do find the girl that returns those feelings, I'm sure that it won't be just a typical high school relationship that breaks up after a week.

I say date while you're in school. For some, dating is a trial and error stage that gets you to the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. You learn a lot about yourself while you're dating people. I wouldn't wait until after college to find a girlfriend. Because the one you're looking for could be in college with you.

I'm not sure I understand why you'd wait until college. Perhaps the relationship you have in college will be more mature than the ones you've had previously... But if you wait until college, how will you know?

Hey, why stop there? Wait until after college — it's still education, right? Hell, just do what I'm doing and wait until you retire. By that time, you won't have a career to build up.

Certainly. Young girls are too immature, and you need to focus your energies and use your time on improving your chances for a good career.

Unless, of course, you chance upon a good older woman, between 30 and 40. Then they have the best potential for the longest and best sex. Just make sure you leave time for your studies.

my band teacher said to wait until you're in junior or senior year of college and date someone that's in the same year so that there's a small chance of either of you dropping out.

Dont look for one at all. A girl will come along when the time is right. You run into problems when you go lookin for one.

It happens when it happens! But perhaps college is less turbulent than high school.
