It is gas most likely--very painful. Top diagnostic internists have a say--be happy if your pain is on the left side where there is nothing to cut out. Consult your health care professional soon. Take care of your digestive system--it is important!

My differential diagnosis tool says: diverticulitis, gastroenteritis or colitis, constipation, testicular torsion, epididymitis, prostatitis, kidney stones, intestinal obstruction, abdominal aortic aneurysm, hernia, herniated disk, abdominal abscess. I would add appendicitis, I saw a case where the pain was on the left and the right, and there's a slim chance that he has situs inversus (meaning he's backward inside, and his appendix is on the left). I would need to know more, like when did it start, is the pain sharp or dull, is it shooting, has he had a bowel movement lately, did he eat something that was spoiled, to say what it is more likely to be. If it's really worrying you, the emergency room is always there.

depends how low and left ,etc....could be kidney if it's more in the back. There's a lot of organs in there ya know! Whats more symptoms?! Or else just go to a doctor and find out- they'll more than likely do a CT Scan- usually with / without contrast.

gas perhaps, fill an empty pepsi bottle with hot water and put on his abdomen where it hurts, if the water is too hot put in a sock.
Could also be a muscle spasm, put a magnet off the fridge on the pain.
If your hubby has no apetite and throws up constantly, it is a rupture appendix and needs emergency.

It could be time to go to the emergency room. What are you waiting for? I hope you would not do this with a 1 year old son.
Appendicitis can kill him if it ruptures you know.
You said severe, that does not allow you time to ask a question on here.
