I understand in oriental cultures, the birth is considered from conception. Anyone know some citable refrences to that fact?

From the moment your concieved, you have a unique genetic code (except if your an identical twin, but certainly different than your mother who is carrying you)...You have a human soul and spirit. Within the first few days of conception, the fertilized egg secretes a hormone that tells the mother's body not to reject it. Self preservation. Even that early, a baby is trying to survive. It has a heart and heartbeat by the 4th or 5th week, many times before the woman even realizes she is pregnant.

The Bible says we are knit together withen the womb.
Children are a blessing from the womb.

Psa 127:3 Lo, children [are] an heritage of the LORD: [and] the fruit of the womb [is his] reward.

Psa 139:13For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.

Psa 139:14I will praise thee; for I am fearfully [and] wonderfully made: marvellous [are] thy works; and [that] my soul knoweth right well.

Psa 139:15My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, [and] curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

Psa 139:16Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all [my members] were written, [which] in continuance were fashioned, when [as yet there was] none of them.

Psa 139:17How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

Ecc 11:5 As thou knowest not what [is] the way of the spirit, [nor] how the bones [do grow] in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.

Isa 44:2 Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, [which] will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.

Isa 44:24 Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I [am] the LORD that maketh all [things]; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

Isa 46:3 Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne [by me] from the belly, which are carried from the womb:

"Borne by me from the belly"...it is God who makes every human soul. Every soul is precious and unique and a gift from God.

Here is the verse that will explain why birth is considered to be from conception. I really hope that this helps you.

Psalm 139:13-16 says this:

For you formed my inward parts
You wove me in my mother's womb
I will give thanks to you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made,
Wonderful are your works
And my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from you
When I was made in secret
And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth
Your eyes have seen my unformed substance
And in your book were all written
The days that were ordained for me
When as yet was not one of them.

It considered the same to Christians as well. If Gid created sex to procreate, then wouldn't the outcome of sex be a baby at conseption? God knew about you b4 you were in the womb, H knew which parents you would be born to and when you would be born, I think tht means you were a person from the very point of conception.

Actually, the birth is the birth. Even in oriental cultures. In Korea, a child is one year old at birth, but it is not born before it is born.

Jesus birth, He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and the Bible clearly states that it is the Spirit that gives life.

(John 6:63) It is the Spirit that makes alive, the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit and are life.

No, but I've personally known people from Taiwan who have told me this. The ones who are American citizens celebrate two birthdays, the one of conception and the other of their entrance from the womb.

Well it is BORN when it exits the womb.

So orientals think it is born when it is conceived? Doubtful, probably a small enigmatic tribe.
