Do both legs apart and do it lying on your back so it safe, try to reach as far as you can measure it between both ankles, so you will know if your improving everyday. Stretch as far as you can until you feel tolerable soreness and hold it for 30 secs to 1 min. do it for 10times everyday. Then progress to standing split exercise, please make sure your holding on to something e.g. bar or any stable furnitures.

many streches. like ones that stretch your leg muscles, and groin area. then slowly glide down til your in a split, it takes lots of practice before you can go all the way down, just slowly progress , like one day just go down till it hurts, then the next day go down further/till it hurts. etc. before you know it you can reach the ground

uhhhh yeah so you pretty much split your legs and sit in it....
unless you are doing side splits those are more complicated with fancy stretching that i cant describe in words.
