no. you can change your religion, but you cant change your nationality. the Irish are Celts. WASP's are white ANGLO-SAXON(two tribes put together) protestations. they come from two different tribes,(Celts and Anglo-Saxons) that come from two different places and ended inhabiting the British isle together. (inter-tribal marriages not discussed here)

Some of us put on airs, but no, Irish can not be WASPs. The Kennedys maybe would like to be old money WASPs but they're really just rum-running Catholics, not that there's anything wrong with that. Some of the presidents were poor westerners, but all except Kennedy have been protestants.

I'm half Irish and half Scottish, American born and I'm not a WASP, I'm also Catholic born and raised. President John F Kennedy, one of the greatest Presidents to ever live was also Irish-Catholic and far from being a WASP.

No, the defenition of a WASP is a white anglo saxon protestant. Irish usually are not Protestant but Catholics like Kennedy was. They could be called WISP (white Irish saxon protestant) if they're not Catholic. WASP are usually from old monied families such as the Vanderbilts, Lodges, and Rockefellers.
