I am bipolar. I am happy and energetic one moment, then snapping at people and violently angry the next, and then lethargic and depressed the next. I'm on medication right now, and it helps somewhat, but not all the time. It's really a long commitment once you go on medication because it's very trial and error. Some people have to try 3 or 4 medications before they find one that works.
Before I was diagnosed, I never thought I had a problem. I finally had to seek help when I would get angry in about 5 seconds over nothing and hit my boyfriend. That was my wake-up call.
It couldn't hurt to at least talk to your doctor about bipolar. My doctor told me that most people who are diagnosed with ADD and depression really have bipolar disorder and have been misdiagnosed.
Go talk to your doctor before you do something to hurt your husband the way I've hurt my boyfriend (physically or emotionally).

I have two children who are bi-polar and being bi-polar can be very difficult if not treated.
You will be happy, have a lot of energy, want to do everything fast, go on spending sprees, re-decorate your house, all kinds of things over a period of time. Then you will crash. Can't get out of bed, depressed, don't want to eat or want to eat everything.
It's literally a rollercoaster ride for you and the people around you.
The only way to find out for sure is to be diagnosed by a physician.

Maybe both of you are bi-polar together. Basically you feel manic (euphoric and on top of the world) followed by a period of depression. You could cycle through mania and depression in a matter of seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, years etc.

Bipolar is not a simple thing to diagnose. It is even hard to diagnose for professionals.
Here are some guidelines

the best way to find out is go to the library, go to the reference section and fidn the DSM-IV-TR. it is the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders. it will tell you about the disorder and give you the signs that people have that have that condition. it is very helpful!!
