As a parent of two children, now 22 and 21 years old, I find your question almost incredible, and wonder what your motivation was for asking it. Are you really not able to answer your own question? If so, I hope you don't have any children for quite some time. If you're asking your question as a part of an attempt to address a bigger question that maybe you and a friend or spouse are debating between yourselves, I wish you'd let us know, because it's disturbing to think that you really don't know the answer to this question. Obviously the answer is NO!! Charlie's got the best answer in that regard, and yet mcentiremadness has got maybe even a better one because she elaborates into where you can let your children have "freedom of choice". Please use discretion when allowing your children to make their choices. Otherwise, it's considered abuse or neglect. God Bless you.

Okay Im not really sure how to address this one, but here it goes. One the child should know better than to try to jump off a car, but again they will probably try anything once. Now if you are present when they attempt to jump off the car you correct them BEFORE they do it. Now if you find out after the fact you tell them the consequences of damaging someones elses property and also the risk of breaking something of theirs, like an arm or leg. So basically in general what Im saying is that you have to teach your children right from wrong before and after the fact. You cant be with them everywhere they go so you have to do your best by teaching them at home so when they go out they will respect other peoples property as they would their own.

If they are young YOU are just setting them up to be killed or enter jail as a teenager. The choice is yours, have devient children by letting them do anything they want or you become a parent, set bounderies, and hope for the best. Your kids may not like you, but they should respect your authority. They may not appriciate what you did until they have children

not jumping off cars or writing on walls, but you can let them make their own choices within reason, but make sure they know the consequences of their choices too.

NO, you wouldn't sit and watch a puppy chase cars and think..'he will figure out not to.........' You don't sit and watch a child write on a wall or jump off cars either.. its called Parenting, and its not the school systems job either.

NO WAY!!! There are rules in life! EVERYONE has to live by rules. The sooner they learn the rules the better. People who do not live by rules end up in places like prison and cemeteries! Please DO NOT let your children behave like animals, they have to interact with the rest of the world and we don't want to deal with out of control children who become out of control adults!!! It is your job to TEACH them how to act! YOU ARE THEIR TEACHER!!! My daughter says 100 times a week to me "Oh, I didn't know that Mom, thanks for telling me.". She's 8 and grateful for guidance. Get it together! Your the boss, the teacher, the one who has to show them what choices are good, and what choices are bad!

Good heavens NO!! Children need boundaries and parents need to set reasonable ones and then enforce them. Children will learn to self discipline gradually until they can become independent at adulthood but that takes good parenting!

Heck no.
If you do that, they wont survive until their 5th birthday.
Freedom of choice is overrated in a two year old sticking a fork into the electric outlet.
"But he wanted to , Mom. He did" just would not fly.
