go with different kinds of steak, ribeye and sirloin is a good combination if you don't want to many choices, and hot dogs and burgers for the kids, with well made cold side dishes, just make sure to have enough knives and plates and places to sit

The hardest dish for a crowd is any dish that requires a constant temperature to maintain it's integrity and flavor. Serving the hot meal is the challenge no matter how hard you might think it is to make

How about pasta?

Find a special pasta sauce, add salad and bread to round out the meal.

The hardest dish to make but still pack the wow sensation has to be Hors D'oeuvres. You can make them as simple as can be or very time consuming. Some simple ones are cheese and crackers. One that will make your guests go oh and ahh are Canapes.

Toast. Everyone likes their toast different. Some dark, some light, some with jam. I burn it every &*%^(( time. I can do everything under the sun, but I can NOT make toast. Or jello.
