I am torn. I really want a dog, specifically a lab. I've never been into smaller dogs, but I am reconsidering the size of a lab and think a smaller, or medium sized dog might be better. I don;t want a yappy little dog. I really want a big dog, or lab type dog, in a small dogs body. Any ideas??

You should do research on the many different breeds of dog and chose one that fits into your life and lifestyle. If breed is not a concern why not adopt a dog from a shelter, there are all ages, sizes and breeds.

A Boston Terrier. Doesn't bark. Average weight as an adult 20-25 lbs. It will give you the big dog feel in a medium dog body. Quite sturdy. Funny, quick to learn, easy going. Ha ha I can't forget the funny snorts. Mine snorts really loud and long if she is unhappy. Doesn't need a lot of exercise but can keep up. Just be prepared for the heavy snoring on the way home. I love mine and want more she is an awesome dog. Just be selective in the puppy you choose. Check out their personality's. I think there is a puppy test you can do. Sorry not much more info on that. Try to google it. Good luck!

Get a minture schnauzer. Or a Poodle. Labs are the worst dog you can get. I correct myself if you get a good Lab they are alright. But most are pcychos from being over breed with the same blood line. A liitle dog start being yappy you can throw in its cage. A large dog not so easy.

Miniature pinschers are great little dogs but pretty hyper. Not a lab type, but you would probably love to own one of these little dogs.

go to your local shelter, there are many smaller lab mixes that have the same wonderful personalitites as full sized labs. many of them are better ever, because you have a good mixture of several breeds.

i have four min pinschers, its weird because two of them are a little bigger and about 17 pounds, two are smaller and should be around 5 or 6, but one is pretty fat and is about 9.5 or so, three are actually really calm, great dogs when we are alone, but we have a new one a female that is just insane, sometimes she runs all over playing with our cats, other times she just sleeps on my lap,

min pins are great though, but you have to give them attention, they seem to just crave our attention
