Reduce the amount of sugars, fried foods and other fatty foods as much as possible. You need to eat 3-4 meals a day. Just make them smaller. Try to keep them balanced also. Meat (chicken or fish is probably best... I personally hate fish and eat mostly chicken), vegtables (corn is not a vegtable... make sure your eating a variety of vegtables) and maybe a starch like potatoes or whatever. Eating yogurt is also very beneficial. You need to get your dairy for the day and non fat yogurt has been proven to help in loosing weight. Maybe a half a yogurt in the morning and one in the evening. This also promotes strong bones and a healthy digestive system.
Any kind of excercise is good. Swimming is one of the best but if you don't know how or you don't have a place it can be difficult. If you do have a place and know how then go, if you have a place and don't know how.. learn. Biking and jogging will also help. Just be active as much as you can.
Don't worry about getting to a weight... just worry about being healthy and the weight will follow. Don't drink soft drinks or sweat tea!! Drink water and add a little bit of lemon for flavor. Avoid too much juice because it is loaded with sugar. If your going to drink juice make sure it is 100% juice since most stuff you get is actually mostly sugar. Read the ingredients... if it says high fructose corn syrup... PUT IT BACK! :) It's not good for you.
Eat fruit vegetables as snacks... Choose an apple instead of fries and skim milk instead of chocolate milk. Skim milk is a great source of many of the things your body needs. And it's not bad for you.
If you do these things you will feel much better. Also, you might be injured which limits what you can do but doesn't mean you can't do anything. If it's your leg then move around on your crutches... if it's your arm then you can walk around and stuff.
Don't worry most of all. Worrying about weight generally makes you eat more and gain more. Just be healthy, eat healthy and stay active. Get 7-9 hours of good sleep each night so your body can heal itself.
Good luck!
Oh yeah... when you get dinner... avoid getting seconds... Make sure you get the right amount in the first helping.

60 pounds is tiny for a 10 year old. That's about what I weighed when I was ten and it wasn't all that great. In fact, if I hadn't been freakishly strong so that I was able to turn around and pick up anyone who decided to try picking me up, it would have sucked. You don't want to be that small. However, unless you're tall, 111 is a little bit much, it's good you're thinking about being active. Depending on how injured you are, you can probably still do some physical activities. Just get out and play, you're 10.

Sweetie you are normal! You're a human being! I'm glad you're seeking guidance at a young age to be healthy but don't over stress yourself to be "normal." You still have a lot of time to grow and many times kids loose weight as they do that. Just eat super healthy but also eat what you enjoy (not too much junk food) and try to get involved in sport activities at school. If you're not much of an athlete walk alot and do a couple of sit ups weekly or else seek a doctor. Good luck.

60 pounds is the ideal weight of someone 3'8". 111 pounds is the ideal weight of someone 5'3".
The rule for females is 100 pounds for the first 5 feet and 5 pounds for each inch above that. If you're shorter than 5 feet, then subtract 5 pounds for each inch you are under 5 feet. Being underweight during puberty is a good way to never have your period (or grow any breasts)

Try running up and down stairs for maybe 30 minutes 3-4 days during week one. Increase that every week or it's not a good workout. You could also jump rope, cycle, do palates, or any other cardio exercise. Since you're ten, your metabolism is probably good. Also take about 500 calories out of you diet or eat normal. Don't eat past fullness, but don't let yourself starve.

I think this is a discussion better left between a doctor and your parents. I'm so sorry you are so young and thinking about dieting. I wish society would lay off the weight issue and let people be people. Now the dieting craze is trickling down to our children?
Talk to your mom and dad about how to eat healthy and incorporate regular exercise in your life. Ride your bicycle, play softball, play tag. But don't focus on being "normal." Focus on being a kid. Enjoy it now, because childhood does not last long!

Who wants to lose weight, you?
Height?
If you're the one who wants to lose the weight you might want to think twice about about trying to be 60lbs. It seems a bit drastic... Anyhow, you can go on a mini diet. Cut back on all fatty foods, like fries, burgers, chips, pies, cookies, etc., and take in lots of carbohydrates (breads, cereal, pasta) and protein (preferably white meat and/or fish) Try splitting up your meals from 3 big ones to 6 small ones throughout the day. Besides that you can't really lose anything without doing some sort of exercise.
P.S. Don't forget to drink lots of water!!

if you can not be actie for a few weeks you can start with dieting. Cut back on fats and sugars, and start eating more fresh vegis and fruit. When you can walk again, start out easy or you will strain yourself. Talk to your parents about joining a gym, many have programs for kids and they will have trainers who can help you. Weight watchers has a kids/teem program, they can help you with diet and lifestyle chages, and provide a support group. When the eather get warmer sign up for swimming lessons, its a great exercise, as well as fun and easy! Its great that you want to get your health back on track! Good luck!

Just do simple things, walk more. Whilst watching stretch and mve about. You will have to eat 5 fruits a day and not eat anything high in fat, salt or sugar. Such things as rice, pasta are good choices.
