It depends on the state. To have security personnel they have to be trained. If you desire them to be armed they also have to be trained and receive a license. Most security group do have light bars but it is a white or yellow bar and not the law enforcement blue/white/red style. I would contact someone in city hall or town hall to obtain any further information of your states laws. good luck.

If you wish to have your own security arm, the license that you need is called a private patrol operator permit. That enables you to operate the security arm under the watchful eye of the state.
As far as individual guards go,there are states that require an
applicant to have a POST certificate if they are going to drive a
patrol vehicle, especially if it is armed response. POST, by the way is Peace Officer Standards and Training. For an ordinary guard type of position, there is usually a written exam that the
applicant takes, which is written by the state and minimally measures the applicants knowledge of law. That gets you the
basic guard card. If you want to work armed, there is an exam and a qualification for each type of weapon, (firearm, baton, etc)
that the applicant must pass.
Now, there are a couple of points you, as the employer need to be aware of. Anybody you employ, particularly in this role needs to be very carefully screened. A legal theory called Respondeat
Superior holds that an employer can be vicariously liable for tortious acts commited by his employees while in the normal course of their job. It doesnt even matter if you call them subcontractors, because of the principal-agent relationship that is
created when they are hired. If you decide to use armed guards,
the risk is even worse because of the possible misuse of deadly force than can easily happen..
The best option, not only for cost effectiveness but for limiting liability is to have your people drive unmarked vehicles, and have them communicate with each other with cell phones or radios.
That way if the stuff does hit the fan, so to speak, they can call
the peelers, and let them handle it.

I work for a security firm. I bought my car from my company. 2002 Crown Vic P71. I don't have a light bar, but I do have a clear LED window light in the front and one in the back. Shotgun holder on the roof for quick grab. And Whelen Airhorn with selector box. We can have Green , clear, amber, whatever you want so long as its not Blue.. Red is a bit iffey, usually everyone around here is a volunteer firefighter, so they don't care to much about that. hope this helps!

Its depend upon your state.
Have a clean record. When you put in your application to be a security guard, you will have to pass a background check to more forward in the process.
A security guard is responsible for keeping people and property safe from theft, illegal activity, and harm. He must always be on the lookout for suspicious activity and must act quickly to detain criminals or investigate anything out of the ordinary. Security guards need to have physical strength, patience, quick decision making skills, and strong powers of observation and their work is as rewarding as it is challenging.
