You blew in the thing 6 times and signed a refusal that you didn't take one? Were you under influence or not? If you were then you just have to deal with the consequences, if not and the cop set you up for a fall because of your ex, I would talk to a lawyer about it pronto, and seriously if it was me, I'd be pissed beyond belief and make sure I got picture or a video cam of the boyfriend and cop together with the date and time recorded on the video too, and proof that he's your ex, character witnesses and made sure the lawyer I got would rip them to shreds for such a set up.

First you are never "forced" to sign a refusal,

And just blowing does not mean you actually blow, if you did a breatalizer at the station with a technician, they can tell and have to have a certain level of breath to get a reading,

Even the portable machines have to have a breath hard enough to get a reading, one reason is if you were too drunk to property blow, the other medical issues like asthma that prevents you from blowing.

So stop blaming others, and deal with it form a legal direction.
forced to sign, and boyfriend won't help in court

I'm not sure what a refusal is but I am gathering you were forced to sign a statement that you refused the Breathalyzer, if that is right and you blew in the Breathalyzer 6 times he's a crooked cop, do the cops have DVD cameras that have to run all the time unless its been tampered with there's your evidence if you have no witnesses and I'd be getting myself a solicitor.

A refusal is alot of things. It may even be not following instructions, or attempting to not blow correctly to obtain the actual reading. Regardless if the officer is friends with your ex does not mean he is going to risk his job and certification to arrest you. Now I am not going to say that every cop is perfect and some do may bad decisions. But like any charge or arrest, it is always recommended you obtain legal counsel.

Get a lawyer and let him handle it. Check with the lawyer referral in the yellow pages. If you can't afford one ask for a public defender. They are usually over worked and do not necessarily have you best interest at heart. Try to work out a payment plan with a home town lawyer if you can.

fr_chuck has the correct answer. You are never forced to sign anything. I have administered many tests where many times the offenders attempt to fool the process by not blowing hard enough. If you had a medical problem which prevented you from furnishing enough breath, you should have informed the officer and he should have taken you for a blood test.

Own up to your responsibility (it's wrong to drive drunk); but get a lawyer. Do not go to court without legal representation. Don't even think about it...

I would fight it tooth and nail. Just b/c the jerk off couldn't get the reading he wanted he coerced you into signing a refusal--which is TOTAL BS!!!
