All powerful means he can do anything that LOGICALLY can be done. for instance, there are lots of riddles asking about things that God cannot do, because they can't be done period: Can God make a rock so heavy that he can't pick it up; Can God make a 4 sided triangle; Can God exist and not exist at the same time; etc. etc. etc. They are all false questions because the question itself supposes an illogical premise
Romans 6:23 tells us that the payment for sin is death. First, understand that death is defined as separation (the body separated from the spirit is 'dead' and faith separated from works is also dead according to James 2:26). Second, understand that the REASON sin brings this separation is that God cannot be in the presence of sin, so we are separated from Him when he have sinned. Third, there must be some payment for this sin- either our own death, or the death of a perfect sacrifice (see Hebrews 9:22 on the shedding of blood bringing forgiveness).
It is a logical impossibility for God to contradict himself, since going against God is the root nature of all sin. For God to go against himself would be the equivalent of God sinning, which God cannot do (James 1:13). Therefore, if God cannot excuse the penalty of his own law, which requires death for sin, then death must occur for sin to be forgiven and those guilty of it to be made clean to enter his presence.
Good thing for us, He decided to be the sacrifice himself, so that when Jesus was nailed to the cross he bore the sins of the world in his body (2 Corinthians 5:21). Therefore, in a way he did forgive us without a human sacrifice, because he became the human sacrifice himself to pay for the sins we did against him- that explains how deep his love for us is!

to the actual question:
he does, and did. thats one reason what christians think jesus was is so thoroughly rejected by Judaism.
the animal sacrifices in Judaism during the temple times and such were a gesture. a symbol. it was the honest repentance that did the job.
theres no such thing as inherited sin as most christians mean it. (the worst things CAN be inherited a few generations... but original sin is an absurd idea.)

Because Satan had gained legitimate dominion over man through Adam's sin, forgiveness would not have changed a thing, if Satan was left in charge of humanity.
Jesus came to destroy Satan's evil dominion, and in order to do so, Jesus permitted evil to do it's worst to him.
Satan hated Jesus, and he arranged for him to be put to death by his minions .... the corrupt Jews and the Romans.
Since no one has the right to take the life of a sinless man, let alone the only son of God, Satan was judged for his crimes, and everything he had earlier gained from Adam's sin was taken away from him.
Once that was done, Jesus was appointed the new and sinless head of all mankind.
Jesus gave mankind his freedom.
Forgiveness of sins became practical.
And here we are!

This is an obviously good question that should be brought up more frequently to get people thinking. Anybody that responds with nonsense like "because it violates god's law" has to be suffering from terminal stupidity. God is all-powerful, so what is god's law at any point in time is at god's discretion.

FOR CHRISTIANS=the human sacrifice was so that NON-Hebrews could enjoy the love of the Hebrew God without having to convert to the Hebrew faith.
NO DISRESPECT intended to anyone of any faith-to each their own. My relationship with God isn't built on another humans actions or beliefs.
In my opinion it is MAN MADE religious dogma and it sounds like BS to me.
God is bigger than man made exclusionary dogma.
GOD is LOVE not hate, but MAN uses God to justify his hate.

In the old testament people sacrifice there lambs and other animals to show there love to God. God show us how much
he loved us by sacrificing is son. No one on the earth can compare what God did when he sacrifice Jesus. And by God sacrificing Jesus has nothing to do with forgiveness. He did that to show his Love for us. That's is why he is called the Holy Lamb of God.

good point. Apparently christians have no trouble believing that he wouldn't be able to without a sacrifice. And yet, they are happy to thank him for supposed miracles, or when loved ones are saved in a disaster. They conveniently forget about those who he didn't save. Sounds like a very confused, arbitrary, powerless, uncaring and cruel god to me.

God does, actually. There is no hell or condemnation. No "punishment". All that was made up by early male politico-religious leaders in order to lead the masses through fear. Jesus role was to teach us of God's unconditional love for us. The "saving" spoken of was to save us from separation from God, which happens through the living of such fear-based lives. Jesus died for us to prove His point about an all-loving God. But, we still don't get it.

God is all powerful yes, and He does forgive us, He forgave us our sins, and in turn our death is a result of our nature which was caused by the fall of man when Adam and Eve partook in the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. And dont forget he gave us our free will to choose, whether or not we follow in their footsteps and sin as well.

God has never asked for a human sacrifice. He(God) stopped Abraham from sacrificing his son. And He has never tested anyones faith and obedience in this fashion again.
Remember Jesus was man(human) and God. There was no one with sinless blood. He would never demand a human sacrifice.
so.... God sacrificed Himself.
