I think putting a label on our individual beliefs and values, whatever those beliefs and values happen to be, encourages dogmatic fanaticism and the corruption of free thinking. Atheism, imo, is just another dogma to adhere to. We all KNOW what is right and what is wrong. The courage to follow our own heart, (without the cattle mentality of having to reference a system of thinking outside of ourselves) needs no dogma, no religion and no label. Atheism is just another virus of the mind - one that numbs our ability - and our desire - to figure things our for ourselves. How can we be individual thinkers if our minds are closed to what 'they' believe??

You could also say that "Science" is an anti-virus as well. Science helps increase our awareness.
