I'm about to turn 17 and I'm still 5 feet tall. I've been the same height for years. Will I grow any taller? Is there anything I can do to grow taller? Please only give helpful answers. My mom is about 5 ft 6 and my dad is about 5ft 7. My older brother is about 5 ft 10. Why am I so short...and no, I'm not adopted:)

You might grow a little bit taller but not much. Your family seems to have short genes that you have (unfortunitly) inheirted.

There is not much we can do to grow taller after puberty. There are many products in the market today that claim to increase height of adults, but they are all scams without sufficient scientific evidence. Surgical options, though available, are EXTREMELY RISKY and of course expensive. This leaves us with basically two options.

1.Stretching Exercises: - These exercises will help you improve your posture. You’ll be surprised that how much of “Height” is hidden behind your slouched back. You can, at any age, add an inch or two of height by simply improving your posture.

2.Second, you can create a “Taller” effect by following some smart fashion techniques. You can easily add another inch or two of “illusionary inches” by improving your dressing coordination. You can get more information on specific exercises and fashion ideas by following the link below:

The only sure way to tell if you will grow any taller is to see an endocrinologist, who might send you for a bone scan on your hand. There are growth plates in the hand that can determine whether or not someone has growing left to do. My son went through these recently, as he has small stature and we want to know if he is growing any more too. Good luck!

I actually used the program that "Skippy" person speaks of. It really does work. That same website, http://www.growtall.pcti-system.com .. I played Women's basketball in college, and I used that to gain a couple in height. A total of 2.5 inches. After that, it seemed to plateau though. I could not gain any more than 2 1/2, no matter how hard I tried. But those inches really gave me an advantage in my games. Well worth it.

Genetics AND environment both determine height. Lack of sleep and junk food diets can retard growth. Once these environmental concerns are corrected, then those who are predisposed to grow will resume that growth. If those environmental concerns are not corrected, then growth does not resume according to the genetic blue print.

Maybe it runs in your family somewhere. Don't worry buddy in a couple more years you will get a big growth spurt. Ask you parents do you have a short side of the family. They could give you help. :)
