Everyone is different but in my opinion, :let's take a break" isn't a good sign. My guess would be that he/she has sparked an interest in someone else and it is their polite way of breaking it off. This person obviously cares about you enough that they don't want to hurt you with a straight up, "It's over!"; it's basically an easy let down. However, this may not be the case. Honestly though, if you've been told that a "break" is needed, then it's time to move on. Don't waste your time on someone that does this type of thing because you're going to get hurt. Chances are that after some time has passed, this person will seek you out if their new fling doesn't work out. At that point you simply say, "I took the break as a "break up", and I moved on". You're much better off without people like this in your life. Just remember... every time a door closes, a new one opens and every "end" brings a new beginning. Good luck to you.

Unfortunately, I think in MOST cases, it does mean that the person wants to break up but does not have the courage to say so. There are exceptions to this rule but it's usually a break-UP...not just a break.
If it's really a break, I don't know. How long does a person need to figure out if they want to be with someone? That would vary with any situation.

In some cases it means let's break up without saying it but in other cases it's a break meaning I need my space and it depends on the people and how long the other person really needs to sit and think about things

depends on how long you have been together and why they want a break. ask if it's a break or break up. if it's not a break up it means they want a break from you, maybe date other people and see what they are missing. give it to them but put a time limit on it so you know when you should move on. sometimes a break can be good for the relationship. sometimes it is the end.

It generally means that at least one person in the relationship wants to uncommit, at least temporarily, so that they can get more intimate with someone else without having the guilt of cheating or the worry of the other person breaking up with them for good if they get caught.
How long the break is depends upon how much this other person they wanted to try out holds their attention. Or how long the person being put on the break is willing to wait.

Generally it means one person. . the one who wants to take a break. . . doesn't want to continue the relationship. . or they want to mess around with someone else without it being "cheating" and then have the option of coming back if they can't find anything better. Only 1 out of 100 couples who take a break ever really get back together.

A break is uaually a way to actualy break up but sometimes it can just be a time when the other person just needs to find out who they are, just them...you can never tell how long a 'break' will last and asking about it will mostlikely make the chances of you getting back together less

This is a tough one, it could go both ways. It could be they are not ready to get serious or they need a break because other things are going on. If they want a break let them have it, but the truth is if you meet someone else during the break, it's their loss. I wouldn't wait more than 3 months...

Let's take a break means I want to break up but still have the option of getting back together if that doesn't work out for me. It's basically a really selfish way of saying "I want to explore my other options." Sorry......

Sweetheart, he did not finish the sentence. He means that "we need a break .............. because I am plowing someone else". Cupcakes, this boat of a relationship is sinking, unless you are stupid and go down with the ship, move on. Sweetheart, move on to a better person because he has long ago left you. If you do not, you will be hurt and that is no fun. Good luck pumpkin.
