I was wondering how much of how a good a smile you have is based on how straight your teeth are, or if it mostly just depends on your facial features.
Also, is there an inexpensive place tht I can get nearly-invisible braces from for not much money? Thanks

I think having straight teeth is not crucial to a smile, but it sure doesn't hurt. Also about the finding inexpensive invisible braces, good luck with that. Invisalign braces start at $3500 and go up to $5500.

White teeth does help. Some crooked teeth are cute, it just depends on you. My confidence raised ten fold when I finally got my teeth straightened at age 29. Some insurances will cover some of it, check around. Many orthodontists have payment plans. There are a couple of different types of invisible braces. One where the bracket placed on the tooth is clear & the other where the clear mouthguard is placed over the teeth & remade as the teeth adjust. My older sis had a couple of teeth stick out in her teens. She GENTLY pushed a little each night & they straightened. Also, there are fibers that connect your teeth to the inside of your gums. I think the older you are the stronger they are. When I had my teeth straightened they cut the fibers so they would regrow and attatch to the straightened teeth. Also I opted for the permanent retainers, which are small & attach to the inside of your teeth. They hold them in place so your teeth don't revert back to the way they were. Good Luck & don't give up, one step at a time and you will have the smile you've always wanted.

A "straight" smile is, of course, a misnomer (An unsuitable or misleading name), since, if your teeth didn't follow a curve, you'd have a mega-Osmond grin and chapped hyper-expended lips! Why, you'd be able to bite off several whole rows of corn on the cob in a single bite!

I went through grade, school, high school, & college with a horrible overbite w/"buck teeth" and, since I was the black sheep of the family, I never got braces until _I_ bought them as an adult.

So, now, many years later I am no longer called "bucky" and all those other family and "friendly" names. People can be so cruel.

Braces are normally used to correct an overbite not to just straighten teeth for a better smile. An overbite can cause mouth problems later on in life. If your dentist hasn't recommended braces then I am not sure why you would need them.

I think braces are over-rated. I needed them as a kid and never have had them. My teeth were very crooked but have straightened on their own over the years. My husband had braces and you can still see that his teeth are still crooked. We both have nice smiles though. As long as you brush and floss, who cares if you have crooked teeth. That is all anyone is looking for anyway, dirty yelllow teeth, not crooked ones. Don't know about the invisible braces...
