Hello, I am in my 4th month of quiting cold turkey. There are still times that I would like a smoke but all I have to do is tell myself that I have made it this far so don't go back now. The third day was defiantly the worst. I stayed very active in the beginning and went for a bike ride every time I really wanted a smoke. I mowed the lawn on day three to get my mind off of it. Just stay active and remember that once you get past the first week or so, it will get easier. Good Luck and if you need any advice e-mail me. I have made it this far, you can too.

GOOD LUCK!

Drink lots of water.
Cranberry juice and start a "cleaning program"

Divert your attention to making some changes in your life.

The hard days are just coming up, so be strong!
You may experience "real pain" so be brave it will pass, tell everyone you stopped smoking and watch your behavior, you will have a "short fuse and anger easy".

Celebrate 7 days with a pedicure.
Celebrate 21 days with a massage.
Notice the sheets- you are detoxing those chemicals and the fabric and your clothes will turn brown, so help it.

If you start working out, then be sure to bleach your cotton t-shirt and underwear- don't wear underarm deodorant or percipient-SWEAT is great!

I freaked out when I got my sense of smell and taste buds back- my house, clothes, car and everything smelled horrible- smoke!
I was a cleaning freak for months.
What a wonderful change it has been! no smoke since 1987!
watch yourself, you will want to replace that behavior so pick wisely

It took me four months to get COMPLETELY past the craving. That was 18 years ago. Quitting smoking was the best thing I ever did. Find something to do to keep yourself and your mind occupied -- read, go for walks, watch movies, pray, meditate, hang out places where smoking is not allowed. Congratulations on making it this far -- and good luck reaching your goal.

Good going good for you keep it up you make it through the first week youve got it made your about half way there. But if you continue to feel miserable than go buy you some nicotine gum or patches they do not require a prescription and are relatively simular in cost to cigarettes they take the edge off and no one has ever blamed cancers to nicotine its the other substances in smoke god didnt make our lungs to inhale smoke. Good luck and keep up the good work.

That's how I did it. It's been almost 2 years. What keeps me from going back is the fact that I just don't want to have to do it all over again, it's too hard. So keep it up, take it one day, one craving, at a time. Just remember each time you have a hard time, it only lasts a few minutes, you can get through that.

you've got guts. I couldn't do it. What's your question? If you're wondering how long it'll be until the cravings go away ... I've heard that it never really does, but will power goes a long way. I hope you have good luck with it.

I stoped in 1991 and it was the most important and best decision of my life and will be of yours. You will not miss it at all. You have no choice you have to quit. Smoking is not socially acceptable anyway. Not one good thing about it. Do not smoke anymore. I look at peole that are over 40 and can automatically tell if they smoke or not. Gray wrinkled dead look to their skin. Please quit you will be so happy.

I quit 9 years ago today
Before you pick up that ONE that you think will help you (it wont!) go get the patch and the gum. Slap on the patch and when that's not enough, chew one gum. Its OK to do this. Its NOT OK to smoke with the patch. Its not ok to smoke at ALL
Good luck! You can do this!

Congratulations! I'd look at that as a goal reached the minute you quit as long as you never smoke again!
