yes, you are gonna think i'm a retard, but i go to a 47 student, k-12 Christian, private school, and we were in english class, i dont think i know how we got on this subject, but my teacher said ''[Harry Potter, sorcerer's stone] ...he[harry] uses the stone to get his power...", when in fact he doesnt use it at all because (quoting dumbledor) "you see, only one who wanted to find the stone - find it, but not use it - would get it, otherwise they'd just see themselves making gold or drinking the elixir of life" (bloomsbury, hp and the sc pg. 219).

obviously she is wrong.

How is this hypocritical? Maybe your English teacher needs to spend less time misquoting books she obviously didn't read, and actually teach you English (i.e. word meanings).

Oh, and to answer your title question, it's not hypocritical, it's horribly misquoting a book she didn't read. Or, for some lame reason, didn't understand.

So she was wrong?? Harry Potter books are still about obtaining power through sources other than God and are teaching some of the basics of witchcraft. She made a mistake in this case, but it seems that you are being forced to go to a christian school and really want to serve the devil. If you want to serve the Lord then get on the Lord's side otherwise you are wasting your time in what you are doing..
You have some serious decision making to do. Submit to the authorities that God has put in your life or continue this rebellion that you are headed for.. As always you have a free will.

I don't know what the point of your question is supposed to be, but it is painfully obvious from your past questions and answers that you go to a 47 student K-12 private christian school.

ok she is wrong then
but hypocricy has a different meaning sweety....just go and tell her she is wrong nicely and explain why.
there are many hypcritical things you will see in life dear but this isn't it.....its maybe a mistake or a misjudgement...
and you sounded really cute in what i read by the way.....you got so worked up about this its funny...no i don't think you are retard...i think yu must be quite young i think you are a child but nobody can say you are a retard.
by the way you are right about what you said except for classifying it as hypocricy : )

I really don't know how your teacher could think that Harry actually used the stone for himself. He really didn't get anything out of it besides the fact that he made it so that He-who-shall-not-be-named could rise again.

It's been my experience that English teachers ALWAYS think they know everything, but guess what--they make mistakes like everybody else. Of course she's wrong here. And you're taking this way too seriously.

Nope, not hypocritical. She didn't remember the exact details about Harry Potter. Oh well.

its a bit hypocritical i think since she's passing judgement on books and movies that she's never seen. the magic part of it isn't really the central part of it... its more about the battle between good and evil. its just the setting thats different.
