There will be swelling and a lump. If there is no lump, or if the forehead stays "dented," then go to the ER. Also, if the baby is lethargic (sleepy) or acting "not right," then go to the ER. Babies at this age fall frequently because they are becoming more mobile. Use Tylenol and ice, and it should be fine. Good luck.

ANY time a child hits their head, they should be evaluated. Even if there is not a bump, there could be internal damage. A really hard hit for an infant is something to have checked out.

Take them to the ER, however be ready to get the full inspection, any time an infant hits thier head hard the parents will get an investigation. A friend of mine had her sone on the bed she turned for a minute and he fell off the bed and konked his head hard, he had a skull fracture and the hospital where she worked and knew how hard she tried to have him investigated them for child abuse.

Check her head for a bruise. If there is a bruise, it's better than no bruise at all - believe it or not. Make sure she stays awake for the next hour or two and monitor her behavior. If she isnt acting somewhat normal in an hour or so, be careful- you may need to take her to the ER. She could be seriously injured. Hope all goes well.

well, i did when i was little, i don't know how little, but between 8 months to 1 year, i banged my head into a wall walking up stairs when my parents weren't watching. i just sort of fell down and started crying, and they realized what happened. i have a tiny little indentation in my forehead, but i wasn't damaged mentally. if it's really, really bad, maybe call the kinds physician, but i survived without the ambulance. lol

Take them to a doctor to determine if a concussion has occured. Also wake them up at least once an hour and make sure they are alert and their eyes are focused. If there's a bump on their forehead, it should be outward.

Take her /him to a clinic right away, especially if s/he's acting sleepy at all. There could be a concussion. Baby's heads are still really soft at that age
