Here's a little secret. ANY dog that will bark at strangers is a good watch dog. Your dog only needs to be moderately alert. Any of the three breeds you've mentioned is a good deterrent dog. That means that if someone is thinking about breaking into your house, the sight of a large dog will probably change their minds. If you want an actual guard dog, you'd better be willing to do a LOT of training, because if you screw up guard dog training you're far more likely to lose your belongings in a lawsuit than you are from a criminal.

Owners frequently screw up their dog's ability to be a watch dog. You absolutely must keep the dog in your home, or it will only be concerned with guarding your yard. When the dog does bark, investigate. Most owners just yell "SHUT UP" and go back to sleep. A dog must be sufficiently exercised and cared for, or it may bark all the time out of boredom.

It's best to get a dog who suits you as a companion first.

There all good dogs if there trained right. I put my vote in with the Rottweiler though. My step dad owns two well trained Rotti's there very protective of there home and family there a working class dog they only get lazy when there not worked. There also hard headed and dominate so you have to keep them under control. I would suggest reading up on all three breeds and see which fits your schedual the best. You don't want to get a dog then find you don't have the time to train it properly.

a DOBERMAN IS LIKE A LB. Rottweilers are big but they are lazy when it comes to watch dog but they don't seem to bark a lot my aunt's got 2 and they are like 2 so very energetic not a good watchdog. German sheperds are the best by far.
