i am a bit shy so im not that great at getting guys attention by being outgoing
and i like this guy..... how do i get his attention? i always try to look nice and smile. i make eye contact with him if i see him glancing at me......i have talked to him a few times in person and a few more times online...........is there anything more i can do because lately he has been ignoring me............ this doesn't seem to be working

I think you are trying absolutely too hard. If a guy wants you he will let you know and make the first move if he is ready to date or be in a relationship. Anything you do to speed it up and make yourself more noticeable seems desperate to say the least. Please believe the more time you spend making yourself more amazing and have a life of your own, the more a guy will be attracted to you. Mimic his behavior.
Think about it like this..you're beautiful, you have amazing qualities..why wouldn't he notice you??????
I've learned from personal experience that guys and girls have different expectations. He's shown you interest by communicating with you in person and via instant message. Even if he is crushing on you he's not going to fall all over himself and confess his love for you, at least not overnight.
Take all the time you can however infrequent really getting to know him as a friend..learning his interests and disinterests, his goals, his beliefs. Right now you just know he's a cute guy with a nice personality and that doesn't make a relationship.

mmm...if not...how can u be shy online!?
be urself...also...maybe he just isn't that into u. i realized after 16 years that sometimes people just don't feel the same and it isn't ur fault...that's just how it is. try asking him why he is ignoring u on the internet. maybe u should try getting into some HOBBIES or try developing a talent or getting some friends to help.

i think the best solution is to work on not being shy
join a club maybe? the more people get to know and respect u, the more confident u'll become and the more outgoing as well
