I did... my mom sobered up when she finally left my cheating father. She wasn't physically addicted, just emotionally, and trust me, there is a difference. I have an uncle who is physically addicted to alcohol and if he goes 2 days without a drink he gets sick and shakes.
it's hard having parents who aren't there for you because of their habits. Try to find another supportive adult. I had an aunt who I could depend on and I love her for that. Don't let it drag you down, it gets better.

yes i do but i choose not to be an alcoholic myself because I know its not the right thing to do I hardly ever drink and if I do it might be once in a while My parents drink almost daily there is a difference between an alcoholic and a drunk my parents are alcoholics but they are not drunks if they were drunks they would not be able to function such as work and hold down a normal life they do what they need to do and still are able to drink

i did ,,, my father, severe, he died from it at 62..
most of my family are alcoholics.. so sad
i do not drink never have,,, i must say that i do not want to be around a drunk, ,i do not care if he is happy or angry,,, please understand that i love my family.. i just do not want drunks around me or my grandchildren..
one day we got together when they were sober,,, and they started to add up what they spent on alcohol,
the figure was unreal. over a period of 40 years,, it was enought that we could have started a small country..
but i remember when i was a kid ,, my dad was suppose to bring me a new pair of shoes, for a school function that night,,, i waited and watch,, even walked down the road to find him .. he never came home that night.. we found him the next day still passed out
my mother never drank .. god bless her she stuck with my dad, always..

Millions of people do. But the problem is probably not the alcohol - but some obsessive compulsive behavior...

My stepfather was an alcholic. He was "recovering" for about seven years until his mother died. Addiction is such a hard thing. Those seven good years were out of about 20 years.
