Because, by definition, anything supernatural it is not a part of the natural world and physical universe. Once something is proven to exist, it is no longer supernatural. Terminally supernatural things, such as supreme beings, can never be proven or known.

Do you ‘know’ that there is an epistemology of human knowledge? Do you know that your statement is false as well as being internally contradictory?

Unexplainable departures from ordinary reality. Hmm. Supernatural is particularly relevant to the context of occultists & spiritualists, since many believers find such interests heterodox--restricting its use in a more general religious sense. Obviously, that's what this question is all about. Preternatural would be another show. My problem is with the "supernatural" being spun into REALITY, where the unblievable/incomprehensable, is interpreted LITERALLY. Awful contradiction there, yes? Accolades to Deirdre H, who gave a logical answer. So rare lately...

It's not impossible.... Science is doing it daily. The problem is that people don't believe it.

Ok.... so what exactly do I mean by that?

Quantum physics is showing that by actually viewing a thing, or even believing it, we are affecting the thing we are looking at. Take light. Those of us with eyes see it almost constantly. The question comes up in physics as to whether light is a particle or a wave of energy. If you do an expirement designed to see it as a particle, you'll see it as a particle. If you do an expirement to see if it is a wave, you'll see a wave. The thing is that particles and waves are two different things. Our viewing it affects its form.

Then there is the concept of matter being in one place at a time. Expirements have been performed in which matter, sufficient enough to be viewed by the naked eye, is visible in two separate places, AT THE SAME TIME. You look here, you look there, and the EXACT SAME matter, not portions of a whole, but both being the whole is in two separate places.

Then there is the concept of electrons moving from one orbit to the next, but never occupying the space between. It's like going from point a to point b, but not existing ANYWHERE between.

Then there is the trick with a particle and its anti-particle. you touch one, and the other is affected, even displaced by miles.

Basically, Quantum physics is actually confirming some of the ideas behind some religions, especially in Wicca and other forms of Paganism. It shows that our thoughts are actually able to affect our reality.

Supernatural isn't quite that far from the natural, it seems.

If it's impossible to prove, then it doesn't exist. If it did exist, there must be a natural explanation, and it's no longer supernatural.

It is possible to know supernatural truths with absolute certainty, but it is not possible to "prove" any supernatural truth. To "prove" means to transfer or transmit certainty, and men are not capable of transferring faith, which is the only means to absolute knowledge of spiritual truths. Faith is a gift of God. We can offer the facts, but we cannot provide any "proof" that will result in absolute faith.

lots of "supernatural" things have been proven. It's just that once they are proven, they aren't supernatural anymore...just natural.
But if you are asking about ghosts, god, devils, and pixies....it's because they don't exist.
