I love my Ambassadeur 6000 reels. They can handle big king salmon as well as walleye trolling. They also have line out alarms. The only thing they don't have is a line counter, but I added one and its all good.

I have used Daiwa, Penn and Shimano reels for salmon fishing and they all worked fine. Mine were Daiwa Sealine reels. 2 of my friends had boats and they had the Shimanos and Penns. Just personal preference but any good brand should seve you well. They were all very reliable with good drags.

out here in Hawaii, we see a ton of PENN Internationals. In fact, I run with 3 International 130's when we go for Marlin and when we get closer in towards the beach, we pull out our PENN Senator 12/0's and 9/0's. But like what everyone says, it really does depend on what you are trying for.

It really depends on what type of trolling, but I'm a sworn Avet user. Made in USA, solid billet frame, BOMB PROOF.
