You can open them with a text editor, if you can read XML. If you want to parse the data contained inside an XML document, you can try opening it with Excel, Access, or a similar data processing package with XML import capabilities.

Hi the best way to open XML files so that you can read them, is to open them in Microsoft Internet explorer.
however it depends what you are trying to do.
ie to use an XML file to retrieve podcasts, or torrents, is different

An invalid character was found in text content. You get this error if your XML contains non ASCII characters, and the file was saved as single-byte ANSI (or ASCII) with no encoding specified.
