I find it is helpful to make a point of not looking at the needles, the arm with the needle, or the blood drawn. What I don't see doesn't worry me. Just turn your eyes to the other side till it is done, which doesn't take very long if you avoid the hysteria.

Poor thing. I am a nurse and know it is hard for some people. The needle that is used to draw the blood is actually not scary. Think of it as a very small straw with a pointed end slipping in your vein and just letting some blood come out, that is it.
You have already had it done before, so you KNOW what to expect.
The worse patient I ever saw came in and had a eyebrow ring, a tongue ring and both ears pierced. Thought he was going to start crying for goodness sakes. Get a friend to go with you when you get it done.

I have fainted everytime from anxiety from getting a needle. Aaaargh! I hate it soooo much! I have found the best way for me is to talk. The nurse who i had told me to wiggle my toes and concentrate on that while she asked me questions like where do i work and do i like it. Do i have a boyfriend. Just giving me something else to concentrate on. Make sure you're laying down too. She reccomends not having anybody you know in the room because it can get you more worked up and excited that way. But if your nurse isn't the type to make friendly conversation then have somebody there to ask you questions the whole time, while wiggling your toes. You will have so much going on you barely remember the needle. This really helps me and i havn't fainted since this new technique. Good luck!

Well, just to tell you I'm only 11, so anyway I went through the same thing just about a month ago. You just look away and squeeze someones hand really, really hard! Oh, and just don't look at the needle. Once I made my mom bleed from squeezing her hand.lol!

I'd like to tell you there's a good solution, but as much as I'm scared to death of them myself I just try to look away while it goes in and figit through the 10seconds it takes them to take my blood. Sorry
