Welcome to the world of HD televisions. Right now, not all channels are high definition and it is impossible to make all channels high definition. It is up to the TV broadcast company to decide whether they are going to record and broadcast all their shows in high definition.

As you have found, there are a handful (up to 20 or so) HD channels. These are recorded and broadcasted in 720p or 1080i. This is high definition. The rest of the channels like Comedy Central, Food Network, Travel Channel are all recorded and broadcasted in 480i. Your HDTV takes that 480i and displays it in 480p. That is the best you can do.

Since those standard channels are standard definition and analog, everything will look grainy and fuzzy. This due to the concept of scaling. When you are scaling up or down, you are going to see "video artifacts". Stretching an image from 480i to 720p will magnify and create video artifacts. That is why tube TV's look better than HDTV's when you are viewing these standard channels. No scaling because SDTV's are 480i.

We have to wait for 5-10 years before all stations will be broadcast in high definition. It's expensive for tv stations to record and broadcast these stations in high definition.

definite you incredibly rightly have stated what the present marketplace is.however the present liquid crystal reveal television`s can't produce a good decision without needing a good high quality enter(video/DVD). The manufactures grant HDTV television`s as usual.i'm unsure what the fee distinction for a HDTV or a non HDTV. the destiny is HDTV (not garlic bread) through fact through fact the reveal screen sizes boost you decide on HDTV liquid crystal reveal/Plasma to reveal the stronger image. My "previous" television CRT reflects a lot greater advantageous image than the recent liquid crystal reveal television`s interior the shops. whilst HDTV content textile comes i visit substitute to HDTV whilst this is low fee ( i won't take care of to pay for Sky). The marketplace calls this destiny proving, i think this is good advertising from there attitude

Not all channels transmit yet in HD, and even those that transmit in HD don't transmit HD all the time.

There is nothing you can do.

Make sure you get all the local channels (CBS, ABC, NBC, etc.) since those transmit now most of the prime-time programs in HD.

Make sure you actually have an HD receiver. Just because you see "HD" on your screen it does not mean you receive HD.
