as long as you go to a licensed physician, laser hair removal is very safe.

but you will need at least 3 treatments and sometimes up to 6 or 7.

Like any hair removal method, laser hair removal has its fans and detractors.

Laser hair removal machines work best on fair skin with dark hairs as the laser has to be able to differentiate between the hair shaft and the skin.

You could buy a home laser hair removal kit like the Rio and test laser hair removal on a small patch of skin. If satisfied with the results you could then go to a good laser clinic and get larger areas treated.

The Rio uses a safe 808nm diverging diode laser system.

Salon laser hair removal machines can treat an area of about 1cm squared at a time whereas the Rio only treats one hair.

Laser hair removal is “permanent” hair removal method but is expensive and you have to find a trained professional, otherwise your skin could be damaged.

it will take you several treatments. your hair grows in 3 - 4 stages over time. you can get the area zapped all at once, but will most likely need to go back. i have gone back about 6 times for one area and am still not done. depends also on you, your skin and hair color, etc. best candidates have very light skin and very dark hair.

I second kim j-- please, please do not get laser. I have been undergoing laser treatment on my arms since spring 2005 and have not seen ANY improvement. For me, it has been a complete waste of money for something that does not work at all... other people may react differently, but it just has not been worth it. (Also, it hurts-- not terribly, but it isn't pleasant.)
