In my religion NO.

We have to study and answer question to make sure that they understand what we are doing and that we understand the teachings.

It's not an easy road as some would describe it....not it is done correctly.

"Then Jesus said to his disciples: “If anyone wants to come after me, let him disown himself and pick up his torture stake and continually follow me. For whoever wants to save his soul will lose it; but whoever loses his soul for my sake will find it. 26 For what benefit will it be to a man if he gains the whole world but forfeits his soul? or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" -Matthew 16:24-26

It's not a contradiction. A person can be a Christian without having read the Bible.

In fact, for Christianity's first 1700 years or so, most Christians had little or no access to the Bible. Yet they were Christians anyway.

Even today, a person can still be a Christian even if he/she hasn't read the Bible or hasn't read all of it -- although reading it certainly helps.

If one believes that Christ is the Son of God whose death and resurrection have set us free, then the person is a Christian. That's it.

If you were to be saved right now and you had never seen the Bible before now then yes you are a Christian, but if you never do pick up and read the Bible then you are likely to lose interest and fall away from Christianity.

You could become a Christian right now where you sit, even if you've never read the Bible, however if you never hear or read the Word after... you are likely to lose interest and fall away.

The Bible is a tool that one can use to know God but it can not save anyone on its own. It would be impossible to be Christian without knowing God and I would believe hard to be a Christian without studying his word but I would not say impossible anyone who hears his word and receives the atonement is a Christian it would be wise for them to study his word and stay in prayer to develop that relationship of faith.

yes you can but it doesn't make you a christian. Christians were first called that in the book of Acts because they did what Jesus did. ie healed the sick, raised the dead and other miracles. As a believer, I strive for christianity.

What's the difference if you read Christ's message or if someone tells it to you, or you see it in a movie?

Literacy is not a prerequisite for living Christ's way.
