Why do the japanese have those wierd flat toilets that you are supposed to squate over rather than sit on???

because it's authentic. and that's how they have their toilets over there in Japan. it's healthier and better to squat than sit

That's how they are in Japan. However, if you go to a McDonald's in Japan, they have American toilets. They are just used to them and think it's weird that we sit down. BTW, try using one when you're eight months pregnant. Yeah, not fun.
