Try rolling your clothes instead of folding them before you place them in the suitcase. You'll be surprised how much more space you gain. Rolling clothes when you pack them also helps to minimize wrinkling too.

The best option (which I have used) are called Space Bags. They allow you to put clothing in, seal, and then push/roll the air out. I use them for all my travels and I tend to overpack but have never had a suitcase I wasn't able to carry on. I use several bags, to help seperate differents items or sometimes outfits. Also, rolling clothes is supposed to take up less room. I put the link below to buy the bags directly but you can also find them in Bed Bath and Beyond and I've also seen them in some pharmacies like Walgreen and CVS.

Rolling your clothes is good, though we often don't. Space bags work well, but if you're using and repacking them often, sometime I leave them home because of the bother.... depends on how many clothes you need to get in. We always say to pack light. Take clothes that layer and mix and match. Here's our page on packing: http://www.mousetourstravels.com/carry-on-packing-tips.html

Well i had to do this before and you have to iron your clothes to make them flat and when you pull them out there crisp and fresh and you can fit a lot of c lothes if you iron them before packing
