Atheist here.
If these guys weren't always trying to push their invisible buddy into science class, and trying to force our tax money to be spent promoting their religion, there wouldn't be much point. But given that there is a constant push in that direction, I feel the need to find more like minded people.
I also feel the need to defend some of the ridiculous things that are said about atheists and scientific theory. If you left them go unchallenged, we would end up right back in the dark ages.

I am a theist, and I have seen very dividing and condemning remarks come from other theists. However, to be fair, and I am not sure you are, I have seen more that are kind, and straightforward. Even christians, are still human, and imperfect. Even God knows and accepts this, but the general population holds them to a MUCH higher standard, and it doesn't really make sense. It does make sense though, they should be more kind, and tolerant, and I know you don't see a lot of that, not on yahoo questions, or in chat, etc.
I don't justify it them or their actions, I can only speak for me. I try to be honest with myself, in the way I think and act. I try to be loving, and accepting, but one can only accept so much. One more thing, speaking the truth, can just be dividing, for the simple fact, that there will be opposers of the truth, or think it is a lie. That doesn't necessarily need justifying. One must always be careful, when lumping big groups of people, into little categories. There is always SO much more to each individual.

Knowing there are no gods doesn't stop me from being fascinated by people who do believe. Religion is fascinating to me. The very idea that so many people could be having the same delusional at the same time. Tell me that doesn't picque your interest? I want to know how that could happen. Why? What are these people thinking.
Most of the questions I answer on here seem to be aimed at Atheists anyway.

You fail to understand that "peace on earth" (i.e. "can't we all just get along"?) is not God's ultimate purpose for mankind. what good is everybody holding hands around the campfire when this life is only a few short years and an eternity awaits us where we stand before God and give an account of our lives??
Jesus Himself said that He came to earth to bring division and a sword!!
True peace will only come when the Lord Jesus reveals Himself from heaven and sweeps away the wicked from the face of the earth.
god bless

As a Christian, I try very hard to show unconditional love - if there are any contradictions, it is in the fact that I am human and I make mistakes. God is never errant. So, if I in any way do not show Christ in my life, my thoughts, my words, please accept my most sincere apologies.

Being an atheist doesn't necessarily mean non spiritual. I am Buddhist and consider myself agnostic because I believe that it is impossible to be certain of the issues normally discussed here

Once I find a contradiction in what I have said...... please don't lump me in with your opinion of a generalization you have about Theists.

they don't need to justify that.
as long as they feel the bible justifies their hate, that's all that matters to them
