I have recently gotten into photography. I have some pictures that I think would be good and worth some money. I was wondering if anyone would know how to start something like that up.

The majority of my pictures are of trains. I have a good many different pictures other than trains though. I'm not looking to make a huge profit off of this (unless I can). It's just something I enjoy doing and would like to support my hobby somehow.

I sell pictures on fotolia.com because they make it really easy. There's also a book (and web site, but the book is good) called sellphotos.com you should look at. I don't get kickbacks from either - It's just what I've done personally.

Another thing you might do is have them printed on canvas or as oil paintings (search the web for services that do this) - and then frame them and sell them in art galleries. I've done that too - it's pretty neat. And you have a unique niche - trains - to focus on, which is good.

Have you considered trying Ebay? There are many artists on Ebay. Also have you thought of weekend markets im sure every city has this form of markets where budding artists like yourself sells their products.
Friends, relatives are also great for networking, have a party where you can showcase your work just to let these people know what you can offer. I did black and white photography, few of the neighbors had hired me to be their photorapher on special occassion such as wedding, reunion, 18thbday, quincinera, baptismal. That was in 1999 and at the time I charge $50 per roll of film, I asked for a minimum of ten rolls, so I get $500 for a few hours of work.
Goodluck to your endeavor

Speak with specialty shops in your area and see if they are willing to sell them in their stores. You might need to have them framed or at the least have them mounted on a board.

You can also see if your local photo developing store might sell them. My husband sells his thru the store where he works.

We have sold some work on Ebay as well. Doesn't fetch a lot of money, but you might get your name out there if you are really good. Do you have a link to your work?

Best of luck!

Go to www.ShutterPoint.com
They will display your images, you choose what to sell them at, they get buyers to their website. It is a fun site with alot of photographers that help each other out through info and tips as well.
I beleive if you go to sell on eBay, you will be paying eBay fees more often than selling prints.
