First of all, it would be a good idea to understand what the soul really is. The Bible simply states that it is the complete person, can be alive or dead. Please note the diff. translations and the interchangeable word "living soul" , "living being", "living creature"--there is absolutely no other invisible thing , entity , ghost,--in our soul or body- than the energy force & breath of life that keeps us going--the very same that was ignited in Adam as you read.
Genesis 2:7-9 (King James Version)
7"nd the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
Genesis 2:7-9 (Young's Literal Translation)
7"And Jehovah God formeth the man -- dust from the ground, and breatheth into his nostrils breath of life, and the man becometh a living creature."
The living soul, being, or person- has been created ever since Adam & Eve--to indeed develope in life by knowledge, experiences etc. .Not predestined, predetermined--otherwise we do not have free will and it is a waste of time to even , think we do.
Religions teaching of the soul is far different than what the Bible , inspired by God, teaches. There is nothing immortal put into our body when we became a living soul.
So in actuallity when we die , we die as a soul !
Ezekiel 18:1,2,3
(Youngs Literal Translation)
3 I live -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, Ye have no more the use of this simile in Israel.
4 Lo, all the souls are Mine, As the soul of the father, So also the soul of the son -- they are Mine, The soul that is sinning -- it DOTH DIE"(my caps)--The soul belongs to God in that he is in control if the person as a human soul will have future life--thus the resurrection hope which Jesus both taught and performed as an earthly experience.

You're implying that somebody's soul is the equivalent of someone's mental processes or psyche.
If that is the case, then animals also have souls. Do you believe this to be true? I find that many people do not.
Anyway, It very much depends on your definition of THE SOUL. Please remember that because I'm not going into it right now.
God can predetermine your person/behavious/psyche, even if the answer is "You are influenced by your upbringing". If God can predetermine your mum and dad's psyche, that also predetermines yours. It means he knows exactly how they will treat you and how it will effect you. Does that make sense? I don't feel like explaining this in baby-detail for you right now.

I believe that if God is an ocean, then we are all individual glasses of God - and it is that soul, our Higher Self, that determines the experiences we have here on earth, and they are chosen to teach a specific lesson. I believe that we choose a path meant to give us particular answers, so a little of both I guess. I mean our nature may be such that only something very contrary will force us to see the other side of a situation - you know? The things that we experience here as designed to teach us something specific - again and again.
Peace!

The soul created by God is pure in its conception, however, it is the experiences of life, the infuence of family and friends and our own attitude which shapes our soul as we journey from cradle to grave.

Because we are born innocent through the womb. Innocent of Satan's rebellion.
Few are predestined by God's election. They were justified in the first earth age, before and during Satan's rebellion.
