ok so i have hit spell check before and it did not go very quick.i think you look more ignorant if you are a jerk.soooo tooo youoo people who cant stand a wrongly spelled word give me a break!! get over yourselves.it is more ignorant to be rude again if you can read this you are more ignorant if you are rude.this was posted in an etiquette area maybe all the rude people should take a class on it because you would learn alot more from that than spellcheck.

People like to correct the language use of others because it makes them feel superior. Sad but true.

ADDITIONAL: Spell checker doesn't always solve the problem. There are words that are commonly misspelled in a way that still makes a real word. The spell checker won't catch those. So the "just use the spell checker; it's right there" argument doesn't work.

Beacause people should know how to spell simple words. There is a freaking spell checker right above the box!! I don't want to be rude, but people sould spell correctly, but then again, I agree with you as well though, because people can get quite nasty and might not even answer the question. I guess it is how you look at the situation. Good luck! Hope you had a Merry Christmas!

The most important matter in this type of web sites is for people to read and anwer questions, not to teach English grammar.
I think that those people who enjoy to make others feel down are just arrogant ignorants. Sometimes when those type of people do not agree with you in some subject, then they try to look for any small error that you comitted such as spelling and punctuation. A person who is educated never looks down on others and is humble over everything else.

I think there may be a couple of reasons people react badly to spelling mistakes and bad grammar.....

People like to feel superior. If that's an area in which they excel, they may be pointing out errors in order to feel better about themselves.

Misuse of language, sometimes comes across as laziness or not having respect for the people who will read the message.

For some, it's simply a pet peeve and a pass time to point out mistakes in language usage. They enjoy being picky.

In my opinion, as long as it's not a struggle to read a message, I don't get my panties in a wad over it.

I agree with you I have seen some people be very rude about this. I think just because there is a check spelling button maybe people get upset because it isn't used? I don't know for sure but I do agree that I have seen some people get nasty about it.

I agree with you. People can be rude about petty things like spelling. It's so silly because the spell check doesn't always recognize misspellings or indicates correctly spelt words as wrong.

It only takes a second to hit check spelling. You could also use Firefox 2.0 that checks it as you type. It takes a long time to read some of the crap that people post and it makes them look stupid when they have things that are barely readable.

You are the only one being rude calling people names and telling them to get over themselves. I understand what you are saying but maybe you should calm down a little. After all, you might just be the pot calling the kettle black.

They are too lazy to use spell check and expect us to interpret their code. Its left over from Clinton's and Oprah's campaign of the dumbing down of America.

Language is the material with which we think. It is useful to be careful about language, because it often leads to being careful about thinking.
