I am looking for a place for my wedding reception near Athens. We are getting married outside Athens with about 150 guests, so we are looking for a place for a sit-down dinner reception with a place for dancing. Does anyone have any ideas?

Local universities (try UGA) and hotels would be a good place to start (if you haven't already). If those turn out to be too commercial for you, go to your local chamber of commerce and ask for a listing of historical venues that rent their facilities out. Athens is a beautiful city. I'm sure you'll find something. Good luck!

universities are good but parking may be an issue. historical sites are good but they often limit what you can do on the property. museums and art galleries are often a nice idea but they too limit your decorating ability. larger churches are often good as they often have separate buildings that can be rented for formal events. also consider a theater or local sports venue. they often have large spaces with ample parking.
