Neither statement is very accurate.

I assure you drinking water of any temperature will not make youfat.

There have been some studies that say that drinking ice water will help you burn more calories, but I think the extra calories burned are such a small amount that it doenst make a difference.

There is absolutely no logical reason that cold water would make you fat. Water has no calories what-so-ever.

However, one thing I read one time is that some people don't drink enough water/like water because they drink it so cold. If you drink it warmer then it won't "shock" your body when going down and you'll be able to drink more of it.

On the other hand, drinking ice cold water will burn several calories because it cools your body down and your body expels energy trying to warm its self back up.

From what I have heard in my health class is that water can not make you gain weight. The weight you can gain from wwater is well, 'water weight' which is GOOD. Mind you if you over due the water it is just there and weighing you down. But, to lose wieght you have to drink water cold or warm, whatever. But to keep a healthy body you must have water and yes working out for a long stretch one time will burn weight but it is just water and not good to lose becasue you will just gain it right back.

Now, drinking Cold water does burn a few calories, because your body has to warm it up to body temp. But, that is all I remember from health class

Everyone is right when they say that drinking water is good for you, it has to be, your body is 70% water! I've always heard that if you drink COLD water, your body burns calories heating it up to the right temp. for digestion. Very few calories, but heck, every little bit helps right? :) And I personally know someone that has lost a good amount of weight from drinking water and still sitting on his butt.

What happens is that if you drink too much water, it results in added water weight or water retainment. This means that your body is very hydrated however gives the appearance that you're fatter due to the extra liquid. Drinking cold water helps you burn calories because your body works harder to maintain normal body temperature, thereby using more energy to speed up metabolism and keep you at 97.8 or something like that.

i only know half your question. (Drinking cold water makes you fat)

When we eat fatty (oily) food, the oil sticks to your intestinal lining and if it is followed by a cold drink such as cold water, cold soda... the oil solidifies (or something like that) [try putting cooking oil in your ref - see how it is when cold] when this oil is solid, it tends to collect other food and gets stuck in your intestine usually carbos, thus not being flushed out. Then if u have lots of carbos and you don't burn it often, then you get fat. I read it somewhere, just forgot where, but its something similar to that... hope that helps a bit...

cheers...

Drinking water is VERY good for you. Doesn't make you fat. Maybe water weight. Drinking a lot of water and controling your food intake, helps you control your weight, makes you feel full so your not as hungry.

Sipping excessively ice cold water will raise your metabolism somewhat. Drinking cold water could not possibly make you fat.
Another thing is that sometimes people feel hungry when actually they are really thirsty. Try drinking that ice water when you are feeling a bit hungry and it's not meal time. I do that and it really takes my hunger away. GL

i don't think there is much accuracy in any of those statements. Water can help you lose weight, but thats if you drink like 8 glasses a day, eat right, and exercise 3-5 times a week. water cannot help you lose weight by itself.
