I ask this because i posted the following question under two categories: Performing Arts and Music.
"Who do you consider a worthy successor to Willi Boskovsky in promoting the music of the Strauss family?"
Under Performing Arts I received two answers, both irrelevant; under Music there was no response at all.
I'm very surprised.

Worthy successor? Vienna? Who else... Carlos Kleiber!
But unfortunately, he's dead also... a true shame...

I've heard of him and agree that he's a great Strauss conductor. I happen to dislike Strauss though, so I haven't searched for any replacements myself!

Of course I've heard of him. I enjoy the music of Vienna, but I am not knowledgable enough about the Veinnese music scene to venture a guess.

Yes of course, he was the best .No one makes Viennese music sound that way.

well, we're not all troglodytes, and i even spent time in alt wien, while in college in muenchen, but i don't have the expertise to know who the successor should be. reanimate mahler? strauss would probably be too lightweight for him, i would suppose. ;-)
